Sound Upgrade

Started installing Dynamat in the cab today. Thou I am only half way threw, there is already a noticeable difference to the sound quality of the cab. The plan is to Dynamat the interior and doors then add another layer of Dynaliner for thermo protection before installing the cab panels. Anyone have any success with this material? Will add pictures tomorrow.

How did you prep the doors for the Dynamat?

I haven't done the doors yet but, since the cab interior was painted about 4 years ago I just cleaned first with simple green then 409. I am hoping to do the same with the doors, we will see??

Dynamat is used a lot in stereo installations, if you have a car stereo shop in the area contact them.

I used the Dynamat Extreme in my 56 and it sure made it quite just need to add the dynaliner to cool the roof area. The Dynamat gets really hot in the roof area when the truck sets out in the sun (no headliner yet in fact not much of a interior). Not cheap but I think it's worth it.

Chuck, your interior in coming along. Were ever I have Dynamat I am installing Dynaliner.

Today I installed the balance of the Dynamat. So this is what 36sq. ft. will cover; most of the roof, around the rear window down to the gas tank, the kick panel area and the driver door. It will take another 36sq. ft. to finish the cab minus under the seat.

Ross, after removing the door cover I found that most of inside of the door has fresh paint. So I just cleaned the areas with simple green. Then I installed a 11x32 pc. on the inner panel then applied three 6x32 pc. to the outer panel and finally the inside of the door cover. The door makes a great solid sound when you close it. Hope this helps. Marty

Tom, I found the Dynamat on ebay for 36sq. ft. $118 plus shipping and Jegs had a good deal on the dynaliner. So about $385.

Check out these guys for a cheaper alternative to dynamat. I've found it to be just as good as dynamat and way cheaper.

RAAMaudio - Quality and Value in Automotive Sound Deadening

I've used it on several vehicles and it works good. None of it has fallen off after several years.

I think the dollar figure I posted is not over the top for 72sq. ft. of Dyanmat and 1/4in. Liner. Besides I'm already commited.

Ok, finely got a break in the weather and was able to install the Dynaliner which is the main thermo barrier. The last layer has to go behind the gas tank. I will not be able to install that until I'm ready to remove the bench seat and install the headliner.

IMO, the Dynaline kept the cab a bit cooler and the Dynamate has improved the sound quality of the cab as well.
