You have what's called a CFI setup. It is very possible you have the EEC-IV, it'd be a late '84 Cali model. It's the CFI setup that's throwing you. It's still EFI, the injectors are a part of the feedback carb.
I just found out that if I click on someones screen name it takes me to public info and picture gallery if they have one. I have pictures of what I have so you can see them there. Thanks. Al
The vin is 1FMEU15YEL921956. Hope that helps. There is a guy on the 6 cly. forums on this site and he has a 85,6cyl,carb,TFI and in Calif. and he is going to see what EEC he has and let me know. That should get me close. Unless the Y in the vin tells you what I need to know. Thanks. Al
Hey, I know that dude...
My sticker is the same as you posted in your gallery. EEC IV. Mine has a diagram on it also.
Feedback carb, TFI (Thick Film Integrated, whatever that means--also known as "Total Failure Imediately"). Those solinoids you can see in your pic, miles of vaccum lines, EGR, O2 sensor, smog pump etc.
Don't worry about the TFI--if it runs, it's good. Get your smog situation figured out and then you can worry about getting and keeping a spare module and wrench in the tool kit.

Thanks. I went to the wrecking yard today and looked at a 84 Ranger and it had a EEC IV and the wiring harness was way different than what I would need. They also had a 85 truck with a EEC IV but no harness and all the electronics was mounted on the driver side fender well. The distributer was gone so I don't know what it looks like. I guess all I need is a wiring harness from a 84,85,86 Bronco and a EEC IV. Yeah it runs ok until I hook up the smog stuff. I will post when I find the harness and get it going. Thanks. Al
