I have decided that from what I can find the the Napa 6637 is the way to go. But, I have also read about all the senior posters with tips and tricks to make sure it doesn't leak, suck in dust, install a filter-minder and many more that I haven't found yet. Can we make a list off everything that you need to make it go smoothly, with only one trip to town? Maybe worthy of sticky material? If I have missed it, and it has already been done I am very sorry for my squidliness...
All you need is the 6637 and a big hose clamp to fit around the filter neck and intake.
Some say you need this, that and the other. You don't. You may want to tweak things later on, but for starters just the first 2 things.
Oh, and a drill bit to fit the minder.
Some of us used 4" exhaust pvc if you are doing the ccv mod at the same time. Dont think its necessary for just the filter. I even put a thin bead of silicone on the joints just to be sure of no leaks,(probably overkill though)
There has been more than one instance of the filter coming loose if you just shove it into the intake tube. For the 99.5 & up models, most of us use a piece of 4" O.D. piping to make the connection. Either a short piece of 4" exhaust pipe, or a 3" PVC coupler (which has a 4" O.D.) and an extra hose clamp will connect the filter to the tube nice and tight without any issues.
The little gray sensor that pugs into the factory air box needs to stay connected. It measures intake air temperature, and as long as it's left anywhere near the general vicinity of the filter, you'll have no problems.
The filter minder is completely optional. You can unplug that and throw it in the trash with no ill effects.
I would use a piece of 4" exhaust. I had both of mine without it for a while without issue, but one day the filter came off on my pickup. Luckily no dirt had gotten in. IMHO it is worth the extra effort to use a piece of tube to make sure your filter stays attached to the intake.
I have about 2 feet of 4 inch stainless process pipe which i am willing 2 cut into 3 or 4 inch pieces if anyone wants. I am in cenrtal MN just finished my ccv mod so I do not need it any more. My e-mail is mfabeck@bigmaple.com i will not be around until tommorrow. Just trying to help out.

Is there any drone with the 6637? I had drone on my Silverado when I installed the AEM Brute Force CAI. Wasn't bad when I was just driving, but towing made me want to shoot myself. I am hoping there isn't any on the 6637
You can handle the (slight) drone, no worries....
It also blows off air after you get out of the money pedal.
You'll hear a hissing sort or blow off.
Kind'a like PSSSS.
