Dead?

Hi today on my way to work my truck died I mean shut off like someone flicked a switch first thing that came to mind was CPS mine has never been changed so I headed to ford and picked one up A friend of mine works there and also gave me one brand new from his tool box to put in my glove box LOL nice guy

So after work I changed it and still no start my Idle control box says C ERROR on it as well which made me think that it had to be the CPS also the tack does not move when I turn it over and no smoke from the tail pipe?

I checked fuse#22 it is fine too?

My friend has a snap on scan tool that has been used on my truck before but he is not around this weekend

Is there a difference in CPS between 96-97 because both the ones I have are for 97?

the last work to be done on this truck was I changed my fuel pump and cleaned my fuel bowl.

thanks

cps's are the same, either the new one is no good or you have a wire issue most likely, check the remaining fuses. sounds like something popped

Another question the CPS that I took out was black and seemed larger than the grey one I have now the length is the same though?

the new "recall" sensor has a different shaped head on it, just the new design. you seem to have ruled out the cam sensor, i would check the remaining fuses, it sounds more electircal than anything else, a fuel or oil problem would have resulted in massive loss of performance just before the stall.

Well got it going this morning ended up being fuse#22 I should have used a test light on the fuse last night all I did was pull it out and look at it I must have broke the fuel heater element when I cleaned my bowl I also didn,t notice the wait to start light wasn,t coming on oh well now I have a couple back up CPS from what I hear isn,t a bad Idea.

Thanks Coon for the help I appreciate it
