The vehicle is supposed to be a 1951 met green flathead handshift ( on the steering column ) F1 pick up with radio and heater.
Does the designation tell more or other?
That serial number doesn't look right; I'm not seeing the H for a 6-cyl or an R for V8. Are you getting this off the frame or a glovebox rating plate, or -?-
It should read
F1H1CS1591 - F1=1/2 ton pick-up; H=226 Flathead inline 6 cylinder engine; CS=Chester, Pennsylvania, USA (manufacturing plant location) 1591= the number of that year truck made at Chester, Pennsylvania.
or the number should be:
F1R1CS1591 - the only difference, the "R" instead of the "H" designates the engine as the 239 Flathead V8 instead of the 226 Inline Flathead 6 Cylinder.
Chances are that if you are reading it off the frame, the indentation made by the stamp for that letter was shallow.
In short it means that you are stuck with one of the less desireable morphodite trucks with that hideous bucktoothed monstrosity of a grill (........said while ducking)
LOL....I couldn't resist. We haven't had a good round of "my grill is purtier than your grill" in awhile so I thought I stir the fire up a bit.
Mozart, welcome to the board! Always good to have another Bonus Built truck guy on the forum, expecially one from Finland. Now, lets see some pics of the truck, we like pics around here.
So now i have undertsood I would like a 1948-1950 pick up for good looks resons but I have an offer of a 1951 one.
What to do? What's the difference in value/ appreciation compared apple to apple 1948-1950 versus 1951-1952?
It is a long way to Tipparary ( Finland) but where can I find a nice original/sound F1 1948-1950 with the Flathead sound machine?
Don't let the kidding fool you. All the trucks from 48-52 are gorgeous. Its just a long standing joke around here about the grills. The guys (like me) with the earlier 48-50 grills think we have the better looking trucks and the guys with the 51/52 trucks swear that theirs are the better looking ones. Its all in good fun and they are all comperable in price and desireability.

Thank goodness no one brought up the 53 / 54 grille thing!
Hi again Sten! The 51s and 52s are favorites to many of us. Trucks are like children-everyone thinks theirs is the prettiest.
I have a 51 and I think it's better because of the grille!
Just one thing about 48-50; 51 & 52, the 51 and 52s are a little harder to get certain parts for, especially aftermarket body parts that are 51/52 unique - like front fenders.
Take some pictures of your truck and share them with us!
Welcome Sten to the best damn site anywhere. These guys and gals have helped me build one truck and now are helping on the second. I like to build them fast once I get started. Some like to build them slowwwwww. Anyway you choose this site will be a great help. I like 51 & 52 myself, but might go to the 48-50 on my next project.
