OK, I'm pretty sure I read someone here asking if another poster had a flashing overdrive light recently, though it wasn't a tranny question and I don't know what it related to.
I noticed I had this today and was a bit concerned, then during my errand running I noticed it stopped (or reset?) after I stopped, and restarted the truck.
Is this a symptom of something bad coming? Of something I did??? I was stressed, driving hard, but slow thru town, lol.
this says you have code, you need a good scaner to read your trans codes. have it scaned asap, it might be an easy repair , but if you avoid it it might turn in to costly one....
Is your speedo acting erratically also? If yes, then your VSS (vehicle speed sensor) on top of the rear pumpkin is failing. Easy and cheap fix. If not, then you need someone to pull the codes that are stored for a possible tranny problem.
No, speedo seems to be OK, hope that's not bad news for me......maybe the little mods and lift I was thinking would be coming soon might be replaced by a tranny rebuild and a BTS kit???
Hope not, but...... will report back when I can get the codes pulled.
Thanks, D.

Where are you located? maybe a fellow member with a AE scan unit can help out by pulling the codes. Most AutoZones and such do not have the proper code scanners for PSD's.
just go to a local tranny shop and have them scan it for ya. its what i did. my tranny wouldnt lock 4th gear on the highways, or almost never for that matter. and when it didnt lock, the O/D light would flash. when it locked it went away. but 80% of the time the T/C never locked cuasing the light to flash.
Oh crap! That's where I'm outta luck, no tranny shops either. I'm on an island in the Western Carib..... anyone else down this way???

Yeh, it's a cool 84 today (feeling like 91, according to my weather channel bug) so I'm not suffering the cold any and doubt we'll see snow any time soon. If this turns out to be a tranny problem though, it'll mean I AM suffering tranny's. I also have a 02 Ranger 4x4 that's been off the road a few months. I have been told it's a solenoid in that one but know almost ZERO about auto tranny's, mechanically.
If you can fix em and need a vacation, I can put you up, just find yer way down, ;0)
The same happened to me. But, I noticed the transmission shifting harder the first 3 gears. Then, a ford dealer tech told me that my Transmission was going to die in a few days. The code I've got was for the Valve Body. So i Replaced that, if I remember it cost me, $ 264.00. Waste of time and money. The transmission only work for 3 weeks after that.
Auto's are not my cup of joe either. Does the truck run any different? Shifting funny, T/C locking up like it suppose to? But I am in favor of coming down to the nice warm Caribbean.
The only thing I noticed was a rough shift into 3 or 4, not sure. Thas what made me look down for idiot lights/ gauges and noticed the O/D light. I hit O/D button thinkng I'd left it off and was not related to the rough shift but it stayed on and downshifted (normally). I hit it again and this is when I noticed it was flashing, and not steady. No other rough shifts as far as I recall.
After I made a stop and restarted the truck, it never came on again, but this was only yesterday so only 3 or 4 fresh starts since then. Hoping I never see it again but not happy about it either. The truck is at 132k so quite possible for tranny probs I guess.
