Bottom Dash Swap?

I know it's been discussed in great length about putting Up-Fitter switches in '03 & '04 SD...but all of the ones I've read the original dash was used.

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/4...info-here.html

But has anyone tried to swap the lower dash portion of a '05 to '07 into a '03 or '04? Thinking out loud here, but would there be any difference in the trucks as far as lower dashes go? If they have, happen to have the part numbers?

It has been done. I remember reading a thread about it a while back. I think it also requires changing the cup holder, and the colors might not be a perfect match.

Don't give up man. I swapped them in my '02. Should be the same fuse box as yours so wiring is pretty easy. I had to do some trimming on the main dash behind the panel. Also, had to trim a little on the top of the 05 panel due to the clips holes being in a little different location.

Here's the link to when I did mine. I also did the high idle mod, but you'd just need the upfitter install:

BTW, I've actually got a lower dash panel like the pic from riggz's truck with the door in it. Have the cupholder too. It's got 2 small holes drilled in it towards the bottom where a cb or something was mounted to it. I don't have the new trash hook though. Let me know if you'd be interested in them.

The reason I was thinking about swapping the bottom half of my dash is so that I could not only have Upfitter switches...but the brake controller and a clean under dash look with the aftermarket brake control no longer needed. Thanks information and links gentlemen.

Keep in mind if you add the brake controller you will have to upgrade your brake master cylinder. Also I'm not sure how well the brake controller will sit in behind a 04 dash as there is a slot on the 05+ that it slides into. That slot isn't there on the pre-05s so It may not support it very well.

Gray is what I'm looking for, my interior is the gray leather that the Lariat's were optioned with. Does anyone know what the FoMoCo brake controller part number is? I'm not dead set on going that route, but I'd like to keep my options open. Again, thank you guys allot for all the information.
