Question eccentric info

Hello all,
I need some help. I have a 1978 400 and I am building it for towing/ off roading. I bought a Timing gear set the (actual gear to gear not the chain type) from Jegs.com PN# 555-20346 but the sales guy said that this ford engine uses a 2 piece eccentric and this part requires a 1 piece or to use an electric fuel pump. Now up to this point I had thought that my fuel pump runs off the cam. My plan is to install a timing gear set, new cam, cam bearings, MSD Distributer, MSD Ignition, intake carb, headers and flow master mufflers. So are there any pictures of this part? Have any of you guys done this upgrade? And also for a job of replacing the cam are there any good tips?
Thanks Jim

They do say that, but all you have to do is put a thin washer in behind the 2 piece so it will spin again.

One other thing, I clean, lock-tight the bolt and torque it to 55 ft#. I've seen them come loose before at 45# & no lock-tight.

All 335's came with a 2 piece. I wouldn't use a 1 piece, just my opinion. I'd probably replace the oil pan gasket too.

Hey Mark a. You say to put a thin washer behind the eccentric so as to alow it to spin again. would a reguler washer work? Also why is a 1 piece bad i would think that the 2 piece may fall apart.
thanks

It probably would but I'd test fit the pump to make sure it still rides on the eccentric ok. One problem I had with the Ford one piece I got was there is no pin in it. They tryed to tell me it doesn't need one ? So I had to make something up. You can't see it in the picture but I cut a old pin off and tig welded it in. I might have be able to get a longer pin for the cam or shim the factory one out some. I the end I didn't use it once I figured out I could just shim the 2 piece. If you want it pm me. I don't know why Ford used the 2 piece but they do turn a lot easier, less friction I suppose.
