do a compression test, maybe an intake valve is stuck open. Or the timing is way out. If you check TDC on #1 the damper should be at 0

I would suspect ignition timing first, then a bad timing chain, then mechanical in the engine. The compression check is a good idea in any case.

Wash it, put tags and insurance on it, make sure it looks assembled, tell the neighbors to suck it.

At least you don't have emission testing.

Maybe somebody from the Nebraska Chapter can help out. I don't remember the guy's name, but I bs'd with an automotive tech in the "Big O." For some reason I keep thinking greasemonkey was his name.

For that advice you owe me a catfish dinner from Joe Tess'. 8~P
It's been 20 years now. LOL

Thanks for all the help!

For the tow notice:
I pushed up the driveway with the '96 and just to be sure they wouldnt tow it i parked the '96 behind it

For the engine i figured out what was wrong.... the timing was WAY off and the previous owner put the spark plug wires backwards. so i got it running for 50 bucks!!!

The previous owner put strait pipes on it and the exhaust manifold gaskets have huge chunks missing so it is OBNOXIOUSLY loud. mufflers and gaskets are on the list of stuff to do this week.

I am going to get it registered and insured next week so i can drive around town a bit.
