On the 04+ F150 you can prime the oil system to prevent dry start up after an oil change by holding the accelerator pedal all the way to the floor with the ignition in the OFF position and while still holding the pedal to the floor turn it to the start position and crank the engine for about 6 or 8 seconds. Turn the ignition OFF and release the accelerator. The PCM will not allow the engine to start if the accelerator is in the WOT position when the ignition is turned on. Now you can start the engine normally and check for any leaks.

Most of the bearing wear happens before the oil light goes out. If you wonder about cranking the engine with the throttle floored to keep it from starting, simply do it now before you change the oil. You will find that the engine will not fire and it will crank long enough to pressurize the oil system.
