Hi guys! I'm back. Some of you might remember me from the 1997-2003 forums with my 2000 F-150 v6 5-speed F-150. In August of 07 I traded in my truck for an 04 Mustang. I loved the Mustang and I plan on getting another one one day, but ya'll have no idea how bad I missed that F-150. It was my perfect vehicle (I think its still in my gallery). It still hurts me today, wondering who has it. BUT, I bought me another F-150! Its close to my 2000. 2005 F-150 Regular cab STX 4X4 with the 4.6 39,000 miles. Manual windows, locks, rubber floor mat. I love the basic trucks, I don't know why. I've always wanted a 4x4. It cut my insurance in half! I hope this truck is half as good to my as my 2000. People are like "Why did you buy a truck? Gas is expensive." The absolute BEST mileage I got with my Mustang was 19 mpg, all highway (dual exhaust, chin spolier, and K&N cai). The truck, I drive real easy, is already getting 16.07 mpg. I'm glad to be back. I'll post some pics soon. Just got done with my first mod, AVS bug deflector. Looks good.
Welcome back. I got a regular cab 4.6 STX 4X4 with the hose-out floor mat, manual locks and windows earlier this year and I'm thrilled with it. One of the few options on it is the tow package. There were tons of trucks on the lot when I was looking but very few regular cabs. I had to search to get the basic truck.
Enjoy the truck especially while the gas prices are down. (I have gotten 19 mpg with the help of a tonneau cover and a light foot on a trip that included part of the Blue Ridge Parkway.)
welcome back. that 4.6 V-8 you have has been around for about 11yrs (for your year truck). I think you can fully expect many miles/years of problem free trucking.
Now we need to convince you to level it out, get an exhaust/CAI...bigger tires...better hide your wallet

off topic, but my 03 GT regularly pulled down about 30 mpg highway and about 17/18 city mpg. Lowered, tuned, catback, cai...not much done to it.

were you driving it full throttle all the time?
Oh, I have plans for it. But it's gonna have to wait a little. Everyone asks me about my mileage in the 'Stang. It was a v6 auto and time after time I averaged 15-16 city. During that time frame I did lots of interstate driving. Thats when I got my BEST at 19 mpg. I don't know what was the deal. I did all the regular maintence. I drove it easy. I've heard lots of GT guys beating me with mileage.
If I were to do it all over again, I'd get an Exhaust first...then Tuner and a CAI last. Volant CAI was nice, but for $100 more I could have bought the Edge. Oh well, I think it all turned out nicely in my case

even my 95 Stang with V-6 got 25+ mpg highway.
weirdness with yours
Well dang..... And I was easy on it! Oh well, I'm ready to go off-roading (very light for me).
