First off it would help everybody to know what truck and engine you have. Second I am no expert on EFI but it sounds to me like you have a vacuum leak somewhere. You could spray something like carb. cleaner and listen for a change of engine note to check for a leak. However I would have a look at the PCV tubing for breaks or cracks. Hopefully some of the EFI experts will chime in.

171 is a lean condition on bank 1.....passenger side of the engine. I've been getting the same code. I've been told it could be anything from the PCV valve, and or PCV valve elbow tube, PVC rubber tube, vacuum leak (which would be the PVC stuff mentioned) or faulty fuel injector. I'd love to hear more responses from your post.

Odds are you have a vacuum leak, you just need to figure out where.

What would make bank 1 lean, but not bank2? What things are unique to bank1 and not common with bank 2? What things are common to cylinders 1,2,3 and 4 only, but don't effec cylinders 5,6,7 or 8? That narrrows your list down a little doesn't it?
