once i pick up my truck i am going to switch over my uniden from my mustang. right now i have a k40 antenna that is 56 inches. i dont know if i should use that on the truck, or go with twin truckers, single fiberglass on the hood, fiber glass on the toolbox, or ive seen guys with about an 8 foot whip on the bed top and they got it strapped down up by the hood. it looks bad *** but idk how practical let me know what you guys have as a set up.
The mast needs to be vertical, you loose power by changing it's phase. If your barefoot with a real CB then anything will be fine. If your running power or your radio has been modded, then you need either a steel whip or a good fiberglass antenna.
Duals aren't necessary, a single mast will do especially with a low power CB and will be much easier to set up. Full wave 11 meter radio is 35.2'(422"), your antenna works out to be about 1/8 wave. It will probably be fine with a little tuning for the new vehicle and K40s are pretty good antennas.
I am running a modded Galaxy with a 1/4 wave steel whip on top of the bed rail. The mast is near vertical to be in phase with other antennas.
I think I am gunna go with duel firestiks on the mirrors maybe their 5 rooters so it's like I'm really drivin a big rig. My radio is nodded and will swing about 11-12 so I can't have no cheapy antenna either. Uniden pc78
