Unhappy New Hood

I have a 2003 Dark Shadow Grey Supercrew. Last Thursday, my property got pummeled by Hail. The truck has damage on the hood, roof, both drivers side doors, drivers front fender. I'm thinking the paintless dent guys can probably take care of the doors, roof, and front fender.

My question is in regards to the hood. I understand that is aluminum. I would think that will be harder for the paintless dent guys to fix up. Maybe not. But if my insurance does decide to allow for a new hood, I'm wondering if an aftermarket "cowl" looking hood will be about the same price as stock. If so, I'd like to go that route, just for looks. Anyone have any experience with aftermarket hoods and pricing vs stock??

I'm not into the serious off road look. I'm just looking for something that would look "mean". Not functional, just cosmetic. I can remember seeing one hood that I call the pig snort. Had two nostril looking things on the hood. I don't know if that was an add on to stock, or a whole new hood.

As long as it can withstand a beating as good or better than stock, I'll consider it.

If you just want it for the look, I would go with a stick on scoop(s) to the repaired or new stock hood.

I usually see the aftermarket hoods going for cheaper than stock. Of course I don't have any experience with F150 hoods, just imports.

www.fordparts.com lists a stock hood at $280
www.stylinconcepts.com lists a steel cowl hood at $500 and fiberglass at $680
and a stick on cowl scoop for $90

Just decide how much you want to spend

Aw man, if it's only $280 then I can't justify it. I thought stock hoods would be more than that. I found a nice "GT" steel hood I like. But at $500, that'll be $120 less I'd have towards an in dash DVD player I'd like.

Thanks for the info guys.
