is this a hot fuel problem?

have a 75 ford crewcab with a 460 and a rebuilt holly 650. starts just fine on cold starts, let warm up and have a fuel pressure gauge in between the manual fuel pump and carb reads 6 to 8 psi. drive around for about an hour shut it off go into store come out then it won't start right up. Takes about five to ten minutes of cranking to get it to fire. Pop the hood before starting fuel pressure reads the same 6to8. there is a fuel filter in between the pump and carb before the gauge. if i let it sit for awhile maybe an hour or two it starts just fine. is it vapor locking?? and how do i solve it?? or a bad ignition coil. i have checked to see if there is fuel jetting down the carb before i "hot start it" and there is. i'm lost!!

Is this the stock mechanical pump or aftermarket? 6 to 8 psi might be just a tad bit high. I know that on Edelbrocks, much over 5 will keep the needle pushed open. You might be flooding out a bit. That's all I got.

Have you tried holding the pedal to the floor when trying to start hot?
Could be boiling fuel out of the carb and flooding the intake. Sounds like a carb heat shield is needed.
