Well, I'm sick as a dog today, but did manage to get the new rear end into my Courier, took it for a test drive and man does it perform much better. Went from 3.64 gears to 4.10 gears, and it actually gets out of it's own way now.

Basically, your brain keeps things from happening in your pants. Break the connection with your brain, and things start looking up, if you know what I mean.
BTW, maybe I should have waited seven more posts to write that. Be a good subject for 10k.

Well, lemmee see here.....what the hecks been going on...

Basically I've been just working and going home, but I've managed a bit of work on Buford here and there. Currently, I should be able to pick up my headliner from the upholsterer this week. I've had to go through some learning on that whole deal. Seems noone makes the hardboard material in the proper size for an old supercab anymore, so I had to come up with a new way to make a headliner. I thought about 1/8" Baltic plywood, as they have it in 5'x5' sheets down in Portland, but the problem is that plywood doesn't like compound bends like there are in the corners. So, my solution was to take two 4'x8' sheets of ABS plastic, and glue them together with a 6" support rib, and then cut out the pattern of the original headliner. I notched it with my dremel, and then sanded the smooth surface down for the upholstery to go on. I then got a couple yards of the same black vinyl that I had the rear seats upholstered in, and took it to the upholsterer. He's going to put in some thin foam underneath, and attach the vinyl on top. It should come out looking pretty good when it's all said and done.

I did have plans of getting most of my engine parts by this new years, but I've been faced with the prospect of buying a new roof for the house. As I don't want to stretch myself ridiculously thin, I'm going to have to hold off on building the plant for a few months longer than I had planned.

The other issue that has come up is that I'm scheduled for shoulder surgery on the 4th of December, which means I'm going to be out of commission for a few weeks anyway. All I can say about that is that my dang Playstation better get back from the manufacturer before the surgery, or I'm going to lose my mind from boredom. Actually, it won't be so bad...the first week or two I usually spend sleeping, as the pain meds will knock me on my butt. That, and it'll hurt enough that that's about all i can manage on a regular basis. So, between the surgery and the roof, I'm thinkin Buford is going to have to wait a bit for new toys.

Other than that? I've managed to break my lawnmower again, but as it's the end of the season, I think it's about done. My yard is pretty much ready for winter, I will NOT be putting lights up this year (as I won't be able to), and everything else is pretty much abnormal.

That's a pretty good idea- How thick of plastic did you use? I need to do the headliner in my wife's Wagoneer, and make a new one for my truck. I can use hardboard, but I only want to do it once.

I used 1/8" ABS plastic. The reason is that the bends on my headliner are fairly mild, and the plastic had the proper amount of give. For headliners with any more bend to them, it may be a bit more difficult, but I suppose if someone were patient enough, and had skill with a heat gun, it could work.
