I've had two, and no tool boxes for me. That figures, because I've always wanted one. You don't see a lot of them here in PA. Could be the area your in--and here it's probably the rust thing. I've had lots of guys who were driving these trucks new tell me that the tool boxes were the first thing to rust out.

not necessarily, i just got my dentside, and i mean theres a good deal of rot on the bed, but i think only the toobox has pinholes here and there. besides the lock being frozen, its in good shape. and im in new york.
If 1 tool box in the bed is rare ...what are 2??
I have a bed w/ boxes on both sides...custom by body man who is a friend of mine.. they told him that it couldn't be done, wrong words to say to this guy, here is the proof.... it lives!!
I have had many dentsides also, and I have never had one with a toolbox. I have only seen a couple around here that had it. I think it really depends on location.
Wow! A tool box on each side is one of the "dream" items I want on my truck. I think I even wrote that on that "Ultimate Dentside" thread a while back.
There was no exchange of money, just a trade of a 9.9 hp. outboard motor, he also added the dual tank door for the fwd. tank and patched the only rust spots on the fwd. panel of the bed, now I have to rhino-line the underneath and the inside of the bed in preparation for the install on the crew cab project. When I see him I will ask what it would've cost.
I've had 4 dents, no boxes. I think I would rather have the heavy plastic though, constant exposure to beer and ice would be detrimental to metal. It's a Ford, don't need no stinking tools.
