I assume your gauges are all within normal range? Like the trans temp or engine temp aren't in the red? Stop by an auto parts store and pull the codes.
What color light was it RED or YELLER ??? Need codes first if yellow. If red, back off the loud pedal and check for hi readings on gauges...it's not always a failure when lights come on, maybe just a warrning to ease up....PT

He said his CEL is on, that would be ORANGE. The CEL doesnt indicate to "ease up" That indicates a fault.
On occasion my 2003 Ford F-350 6.0L When towing the check engine light comes on. Where could I start looking and why does it do that?
I had the same problem on my 04 6.0, my CEL would light up every time I towed. I would have it checked out, turned out my issues were the EGR on one occasion and the EBP sensor on the 2nd occasion and another EGR on the 3rd occasion. 3 consecutive trips I got hit with the CEL only while towing..... It's fixed now though!
