It's just a matter of mounting to the frame right? Then running electrical? A guy has a complete setup here for sale used, for $1100, and was thinking it sounded like a good deal. If you're just bolting it up and then running wires that doesn't sound hard. I thought it actually got something from the engine other than power.
Will a plow setup that bolts on to a 1989 or 1995 F250 bolt on to an 04 Excursion? I don't have experience in the hardware of the older trucks, and certainly nothing capable of plowing in the past. How do you wire plow controls? Is there a lead that is designed to go through the door or do you go through the firewall and mount something under/on the dash?

I don't think so. But you'd have to check on the manufacturers website on the particular plow that you are looking at.
I know on my Boss plow, it was a mounting kit for 99-07.
There is a harness that goes into the cab to the controller....easiest through the firewall. Has a plug on the end to plug the controller into. At least that's how it is on Western and Boss plows.
