Snow plow prep

What exactly is different with the snow plow prep. It's only 85$ but I was wondering how it actually changes the truck.

Stiffer front springs, a heavier-duty alternator, and the ability to plow without voiding your warranty.

It's worth the $85 for just the last one.

I think it makes the front sit higher too. Some say it doesnt but even on the 2017, from all the pics ive seen from dealers, the snow plow trucks look like they stand taller.

Mine has the prep kit. Was wondering what was different about it. Thanks. I did notice i had 2 alternators.

In the past it has changed the front gawr from 5200 or 5600 to 6k

Perhaps most importantly, if you own some sort of business, it gives up to $1000 rebate towards purchase price of the plow. But yeah, I think it's worth it for the alternator upgrade myself.

Mine feels plusher than my 2014 srw350 i traded in. My 17 is long bed though so that might be the change in ride. Biggest thing i noticed made a difference was dropping the front tire psi down to the 60 psi the door sticker called for. Truck came delivered with 80 psi all around. Sucks i drove all the way from Indiana to GA with the incorrect front tire psi and the hubs in the locked position.

The alternator options on this 2017 are bewildering.

Standard but barely available anymore except gas XL trucks with zero options is the 157A. Also available, depending upon engine choice and options, are a 200A, a 220A, a 240A, or a combination of two alternators on the diesels, with either 332 or 377A.

For me, the extra alternator capacity is easily worth the money. Even at Ford's max combo of 377A, RAM's dual alternators allegedly put out over 400A.

How do you get this rebate? I have a business and I suppose this truck could be for plowing said business' driveway.

Snow plow package made the ride much rougher on the 2016. I wouldn't get it if not needed.

Probably part of an upfitter rebate which would require the purchase of a snow plow at the time. Not a standard rebate.

Going to order a F350 Lariat SC LB 6.7 3.55 eLock. Want the snow plow pkg as well as the camper pkg. Cannot order the snowplow/camper pkg with the 3.55 eLock, can order snowplow OR the camper pkg. separately. Will be ordering the camper pkg to get the rear stabilizer. Doesn't matter about the alternator because I'll be ordering the dual extra heavy duty alternator package anyways.

Do you plan on plowing snow? With a big blade on the front, the heavier springs are advised.
