I've got an 89 F250 302 5 spd. Today, it drove fine for 2 blocks and then started to hesitate and sputter a little. I went to pull into a parking lot and it got worse, even at idle it would cough and sputter....then when I go to let out the clutch it would pretty much kill alltogether.
pulling your codes would provide a good starting point. This could be lots of different things...
I don't have a code reader, I'll look into borrowing one tomorrow.
Just an update, I went back to the parking lot tonight. While trying to start it, it would turn-over for a while, then start and immediately die....it would just fire for a fraction of a second. What's the most likely cause?

Actually... Go here: Ford Fuel Injection How To Run a Self-Test They have instructions on how to pull the codes yourself without a reader. Would really, really help if you had a code because it would narrow the problem down by a lot.
When you turn the key to "on" can you hear the fuel pump run for a couple of seconds?
Yes the pump does run when the key is in the "on" position.
After cranking it for a few seconds, I pushed down on the shrader valve on the fuel rail. A little fuel poured out, there wasn't a high pressure spray like I've seen on other FI vehicles. Makes me wonder if the fuel pump is worn out.

Couldn't find the STI plug, I found the large triangular 6 pin plug but the STI plug was no where near it, I'll look again in the morning.
