Door never ajar

The other day I noticed that when I open my drivers door, it never signals that it is ajar. So whenever I shut my truck off and exit, it won't shut the radio off. When entering my truck, the dome lights do not come on.

I did a search through the forum and it appears that only one other person had this issue, but they never posted on how they resolved it. They actually stated that they tried spraying wd-40 in the hinge to no avail. Someone else stated that they determined that it was a cut or abraded wire in the door panel. They also stated that they had lost functions of some buttons on the drivers door, where I still have full functions of every button on my door.

So does anyone have any idea for what I could do to fix this issue? Is there a place to actually spray something into/onto?
The truck is an 08 Scab with about 15000kms on it. Normally I would take this to the dealership and have them fix it, but this is a horrible time for me to be without my truck. Since the economy has taken a nosedive, I've recently lost my job, and I'm working on finding a new one as we speak.
So I need my truck to drive to interviews and whatnot.

Anyways, does anyone have any suggestions?
For that matter, anyone looking for a framer? lol

I would take it in to dealer. It should be covered under warranty. Does not sound like the truck would be down a long time so you would probably have it fixed the same day you took it in. Another option try calling dealership and see if they could give you some direction over the phone

Do the interior lights come on when you open the door? If not, I say it's the door switch. Let us know...

If the lights work, then I'll take a look at the wiring diagrams and see what i can find.

The interior lights do not come on when I open the door.
I did notice tonight of something interesting though.
Before, when opening my door I would pull the handle and the door would seem to stick somewhere and then pop open.
Now that the sensor isn't working, the door opens very smoothly like it should.

The passenger door still works and the truck notices when it is open. So it is only the drivers door.

So I think it is the door switch. I'm assuming that it just needs to get replaced.

It's an '08... The dealer should fix this without too much hassle! They should also provide means of transportation without hassle! It is not your fault that the truck does not function properly (at least I assume it is not?)

They should be able to get it fixed, and if it takes longer you have their "loaner" to utilize till you get it back! I do not know any dealer that does not provide this service, especially on a newer truck!

That is just my 2 cents worth....

Well I talked to the service department at a ford dealership today.
He seemed to be baffled by it but said they would take a look at it.

And thank you sammer4u. If you had not said the word "loaner" I would have completely forgotten to ask about it.

So I booked my truck in to get it fixed on the next available date that the loaner car is available.

Some easy to fix problems still wont get fixed same day if it isnt a common enough problem to keep the parts in stock. Many dealers only stock parts if there are a certain number of demands for that part in a given number of days. So even if they know the problem in minutes you will possibly wait a day or two for the part. Some parts are vendor only and can take weeks to recieve. I dont think your dealer will be offering a loaner for days or weeks because your seat has a cut in it or your dome light isnt working from one door. We try to reserve our loaners for safety related issues or major repairs.

Most loaners are only given on avaliability of it of course, and usually prioritised. Owners with Ford ESP plans with rental plan, repairs taking more than one day, etc. Dealers are limited to how many loaners/rentals they have on hand. If you take in dozens or more than a hundred cars in per day, it just isnt possible to give everyone a loaner.

Most commonly your part is ordered and you return for repair if you cant leave it for a day.

Well this dealership is in a small town just outside of a big city.
They are going to let me use the loaner.

And normally I wouldn't ask for a loaner, but I need a vehicle.
He claimed that they would have my truck for atleast the day, and this town does not have a form of public transportation.

In fact, the closest form of public transportation is about 50kms away.
