How to REBUILD guide for the 7.3L DIT ???

Hey all, I have been looking high and low for any books, manuals, DVDs, etc. that provide guidance for rebuilding a Ford 7.3L DIT Power Stroke engine. You know, the kind of guides that provide you a little history, recommended modifications, must do upgrades, lessons learned, performance suggestions, and best practices. That sort of thing.

I have not found anything even remotely close. Such guidance has to exist as this engine is way too popular and has been out for a long time. I am just guessing that I have had terrible luck finding it and would like to think that one of the forum members could point me and other curious wrench turners in the correct direction. Thanks, -blake

…other than the factory manual that I will admit is the bible; however, it does not state advantages of lessons learned or recommend modifications that are practical and feasible because of warranty issues and the likely fact that FOMOCO does not sell those cost effective and or performance parts.

So, FACTORY MANUAL, noted – now what else is available?

Thanks Ray, I appreciate your input, -blake

Asking lots of detailed questions in this forum is a VERY-good "manual".

You don't need "books, manuals, DVDs, etc.". You've got FTE.

Kris, up in Maryland, has recently BTDT.

Well Kris, did you write a ”how to” book on the subject?

Clearly, Pop, the fact that you have had the opportunity to inform, advise, even respond to my posted topic demonstrates that the FTE is indeed a resource, and a very useful one – hence my utilization of it. I do appreciate your input.

A search of this great tome I have conducted and found useful information, now I simply wish to find more. Something more that hopefully has chapters and an author’s insight, experience, and further recommendations. FTE does require quite a bit of sleuthing, bouncing around, and a tendency to have to draw conclusions. It does not exactly read like a book that tends to cover a topic from start to finish. The FTE may indeed have all the information I require; however, chronologically laid out in a comprehensive manner it is not. I do not readily have the time to compile and sort all the pieces simply figuring a guided manual (other than the factory manual) would be just swell!

So, FACTORY MANUAL, noted; FTE, noted – now what else is available?

Again, thank you for you assistance, -blake
