Stosh, it has been done before. I have seen it done before at a car show on a 92-97 truck. However, I do not know what would need to be done. I do not even know if the truck's window was functional, I would assume it was. I would seem to think that something out of a van or newer truck would work with some modification, the hardest thing I forsee would be some sort of track for the window to slid into on the front side of the window. Maybe he took the assembly out of a rear crew cab door??? I dunno, it seems like it wouldn't be extremely hard to do. Don't worry about it being asked before, I like to answer questions if I can maybe help someone. Glass can be made too, so it is possible.
Ya it's been asked before, I did a search. But there's no answers and it's been a while. I don't think I would have a hard time figuring it out. But I need to get the glass somewhere and if it's been done I want to know how they did it.
Maybe I should produce a kit, think it would sell?
Sorry I didn't mean it couldn't be done, and that not a single person has ever done it correctly. You could easily take everything out and put a piece of plexiglass in there.
What I meant was that there is no "kit" that you can buy to just bolt one in. And there is no factory glass that I know of that would fit either.
If you have enough time and money, anything is possible.
I don't think it would sell....I remember the general sentiment being the vent windows are a pretty desirable feature when this subject has come up in the past.
Yeah I love my vent windows on fall days when I dont feel like runnin the a/c. However, If you were doing a truck for super clean look, that is a perfect way to get rid of some "clutter." I wouldn't prefer it, but I can see how it would be desirable.
I want to do it for three reasons. The first and most important, it makes it harder to break into. Second I like hanging my arm and somtimes more out the window, the wing gets in the way. Last I think it looks better. I get plenty of air, it's a crew-cab with all the windows down it's like a tornado.
