High Idle Mod for a 7.3

Hi Guys, I,m a 6.0 guy and don't spend much time here on the 7.3 site. I recently installed the High Idle Mod on my 04 6.0. It works great, some of my friends with 00 7.3 and 02 7.3 were wondering if there is a way to do this mod on their year models. This is great for cold mornings and to prevent wet stacking. I searced all over this site and did not see any mention, so I 'll throw out the question; Any Help?

If they get a DP tuner they can have him put a high idle tune on it at whatever RPM they choose.

Is that a permanent high idle or can it be turned on and off like the 6.0 mod?

I was going to do this, but I ended up with the SW version when I switched to Tony Wildman's tunes. It's a handy mod.

Here's a link to a thread I did for the High Idle mod on my '02:

You can skip the upfitter install and just use a toggle switch.

FYI, the pots are cheap and pickup a 10K and a 50K. When I had my edge evo hooked up, the 10K worked best, but when I removed the Edge, it no longer had enough resistance. I need to change it out to the 50K pot.

Let me know if you have any questions, and I'd be glad to help!

The DP tuner is a selectable switch there are many tunes that can be loaded or you can do it like the others have posted. If your friends are interested in the DP, you can click on the upper right Icon on this forum page and read all about them. They are the most popular tuner in this forum by far.

BTW, I've since added a factory AIC unit to the truck and no longer use the custom one I installed earlier this year. I'm taking it all off this weekend. I'm not sure if it'd work for the '00 but would on the '02.

All you'd need to come up with would be a 50K pot if the 10K didn't work and a toggle. Maybe some wire connectors also. Everything else would be there.

Thanks for the info guys, I will get this to my 7.3 buddies. The mod for the 04 6.0 is a lot easier, but I guess thats just newer technology and the factory guys using their brains.

What I have is in the link Joe/Izzy posted. It's the setup that Scott/Cookie 88 posted in that link.
