My '68 F250 has a 1973 460 in it. What parts do i need to convert it over to electronic ignition and how much am i looking at? The vacuum advance part of my dizzy doesn't work and my engine sucks until you hit about 30. I bought the new part, but i went to remove the 2 screws from the dizzy and they both snapped. So i need to buy a new dizzy, but was thinking about spending the extra money and get electronic setup. I heard you can get everything needed built into the dizzy. Is that true?
just switched over a 429. went to the bone yard and got dist., module, coil & wiring harness in between. hook up red wire on module up to hot when key on on switch. rest is bolt in & change coil & put on a decent set of wires.
like vinlin95 said to put in stock set up need to spile two wires one with key on and one with key in start position new dist. from auto part store should be around 80.00 other then that junk yard would have coil and module and wiring.
Dave, The vac. module can be purchased separately or a remain. dist. should be avail. for less than $50.00. The Petronix II is a nice add on module for a hundred bucks.
There are choices, but is sounds to me that you might have some other issues. The electronic ign. will make some difference but not a big one. IMHO
Its at the end of the line difference not the beginning, if that makes any sense.
Factory DII module, reman dist, Painless 30812 harness. Done.
Think i'd stay away from the Pertronix as well. Replacement parts are readily available in Resume Speed Iowa, as opposed to some of the aftermarket products
man, go to the local jy and all you need is the plug for the mod. and the dist for the core and buy everything else reman, coil 22 bucks new, dist 50 bucks reman, 15 for the cap and roter, 10 for the adapter,40 for the good mod with blue clip and 30 for the wires, and just do the wiring your self its super easy!
