Where can I get some good lug nuts that arn't going to rust/pit and what size do I need?
Primary rig is Green Thunder:
95' F-150 XLT 4x4, 302, 5 spd, MSD 6A, Flowmaster Exhaust, Sunroof, Clear corners w/ Diamond headlights, CD player with 2 10" subs and some 32" BFG Muds .
Thats it for now, saving for a stang. Check out my Gallery for a look-see.
I picked up some at a local World of Wheels. I think they do mail order too. Mine were for a 1971 Ford F-100, 1/2 x 20 thread. Very solid and expensive. $3 each.
I think they might last a while, the ones available at Autozone and such were too cheap and I felt my impact gun would shortly turn them into twisted rust. Plus, the cheaper ones seem never to seat properly in the rims and these fit fine.
I've seen some fine quality regular nuts at Napa... Whatever you do dont get any kind that have a tin cap over the nut, when that cap falls off, and they will, there isn't many sockets that will fit that stupid nut (tire changers worst nightmare, they always get jammed in the socket).
I hate the sheetmetal chromed lugnuts! Ford used these instead of real chrome lugnuts to save themselves a few pennies, don't think an aftermarket company makes this style. What is really nice is when you only have the tire iron to remove them, and the sheetmetal comes off. Then you're boned. And some geniuses will re-install them when they're ruined by forcing a smaller socket on them, works for getting them tight but not always getting loose again after that.

You can get either McGard or Gorilla lug nuts at a local auto parts store. Thread size should be 1/2"-20. The lug nuts come in 4 packs so you will have to buy 5 of them. I've also seen lug nut/locks in sets. They come with 16 regular lugs and 4 locks to protect you wheels and tires from theft. I believe the 4 packs are around $5 and the lug/lock kits are around $25.
