Is it possible to get better fuel mileage from my truck?--I have a 2000 F350 xlt super duty crew cab/short bed 4x4 with a 6.8L V10 triton--it is slightly lifted with a topper--thanks for any input
These trucks aren't made for good MPG, but tune-ups, including MAF sensor cleaning and general maintenance help. What are you getting now? List your truck's specs.
I get about 13 on the highway if I don't get over 65 MPH - I have 4.30 gearing.
Hot spark (iridiums), mild tire tread, mid-grade fuel (premium works too but not really a necessity-- on my truck I do about 5-8% better using a higher quality fuel on long trips) and leave that topper on. Synthetic Oil could help, but i wouldn't sacrifice viscocity for economy. that could have a vaery expensive outcome.
Also gibson exhaust and cutting out that catalytic converter does some good Like 1-3 mpg good depending on your driving habits

I'm not sure about all the specs--I recently took ownership of the truck from my folks survey company--I will try to find more out about it--I get about 11 or 12 city mpg--thanks for the responses
