Did you get new tires with your rims? Does anyone else have issues with 285's on stock rims? I just ordered some 285/75/R16 Silent Armor Pro Grades for my truck, and now I don't know what to do. I don't want new rims, and I don't really want the ride to be bouncier than stock.

I ran my 285s on stock rim for about 2 years. No problems really noticed. I did run quite a bit lower air pressure empty to keep the tread riding flat. I didn't notice any bounce as others mentions. I do however like them better on the wider rims now. They are 8 inch vs the stock 7. I feel better running them with more air. Less tire roll when cornering.

i just swapped my old tires over to the new rims for now, because i dont need my new tires on the new rims yet. once we start getting some bad weather i will most likely put my new tires on the truck. I have a brand new set of MTRs sitting in the garage waiting to go on the truck.

Maybe i should rephrase what my truck was doing on stock rims. It wasnt necessarily more bouncy, but it definitely road rougher when i had the 285s on stock rims. the wider rims smoothed the ride noticeably to me.

Aftermarket Wheels

If I go with an aftermarket 16x8, is it likely to rub the spring with 285s?

Thanks...

Aftermarket Wheels

So an aftermarket wheel will stop the rub I am getting from my stockers and the 1" width will improve ride and the wearing of my BFG A/T 285/75/16s?

If so, I'll begin my hunt for wheels today.

Thanks...

Neil

Aftermarket Wheels

If an after market wheel will eliminate the rubbing of my BFG A/Ts, I was thinking about going with these: mounted on these rub?

Eagle Alloy Wheels

<table align="center" border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="2" width="650"> <tbody> <tr> <td class="body_text_feature" align="center"> 0589-7887 </td> <td class="body_text_feature" align="center"> 16x8 </td> <td class="body_text_feature" align="center"> Polished </td> <td class="body_text_feature" align="center"> 8 on 170 </td> <td class="body_text_feature" align="center"> -11 mm </td> <td class="body_text_feature" align="center"> 4 </td> <td class="body_text_feature" align="center" nowrap="nowrap"> N/I </td> <td class="body_text_feature" align="center"> 3420 lbs. </td> <td class="body_text_feature" align="center"> 24 lbs. </td> </tr> </tbody> </table>
Does anyone know the stock polished 8 bullet hole style wheel's offset and other specs?

These are polished wheels that are not clearcoated. Anyone have any experience with the maintenance required to keep them looking good?

Thoughts?

Thanks..

Neil

DemonRace6, Did you use the stock rim (16x7) with your tires? I have 295x75x16 BFG's on the stock rims,But was told that they are too narrow for this size tire. I don't want to have to get wider rims if I don't have too.

OEM Wheels

Yes, I used an OEM 8 hole polished 16x7 wheel with my BFGs A/T TKO 285/75/16.

Were those E rated Michelin's you got for $400.00? If so, please let me know which Michelin design they are.

Respects,

Richard

Sorry this is really late but yes they are on my stock rims.

But I want to know if I should be getting different rims and what kind, I want to go to 315x75x16 but I dont think i should do it on stock rims, if I want tires this big how wide should my rims be and should I go with larger rims??

AT least an 8 inch wide rim. I believe you want 305 70 r 16 not 75. That is a 35 inch tire in the old 15 sizes.

305 70 r 16 tires are smaller than the ones I have on it now. I am putting the leveling kit on my truck and want to go with larger tires, such as the 315 75 16, but since I have to get new rims anyway I think I am going to get larger than 16 inch rims, is that a good idea??

Whoops, I meant 315 70's. It may be 75. I would go check my "new " ones but they are sitting in Sears' garage right now. They couldn't balance them so I have to take them to a 4x4 shop tomorrow at lunch.

You could go with a bigger rim, but it has been my experience that the larger the rim, the more the tires cost.

Yea the cost is getting up there and I think I'm starting to cheep out and go with random brands instead of staying with the known good brands, what do you think about these package deals?
