295/75-16 bfg A/t, on my oem chromers would rub at full lock (on the springs, and in the middle somewere on my oem plastic ford mudflaps. Not an issue for most, but I need to be able to run tire chains in the winter.
Just got my 285/75/16 BFG A/T TKOs installed on OEM 8 hole polished wheels and the right front rubs the spring 1/4 turn from locked to the right. No rubbing to the left. I got to figure out what to do as this is driving me nuts.

Ideas?
Thanks...

Two things
1) Is the steering wheel straight when you go down the road straight?
2) It really doesnt hurt anything to rub the spring a little. When the tires wear a little, it will not do that anymore. If your wheel isnt straight, your tie rod may need ajusted a little, and you may currently have the ability to turn the wheels just slightly more right then left.
Got a bud with 305's and he gets a little rub at full lock.Run BFG A/T's. Guess that little bit of width contacts the truck.
EDIT: He's got the front leveling leaf kit.
Just to give an update - I wound up getting Pirelli Scorpion ATR's. They had a buy 4 and get a $100.00 rebate. Stayed w/ stock 265's, cause they didnt make load range E in the 285 plus I didnt have to mess w the spare. These are real nice tires , quiet too.
For the most part, Steering Wheel is Striaght. I had the alignment checked not long ago with the Michelins and is was fine.
I wonder if there is an offset difference between the bullet hole wheels and the Lariat wheels?
Lugs of the tire rub the spring.
Braking seems to have changed too. When almost completely stopped, I can feel a grind of the rumble of the tread. No pulling and up until I am almost stopped, braking seems normal. It has been raining since I got the tires installed and looks like it will be raining for several days so I can't check anything. Plus, I have to get my heavy truck jack from the shed through the mud.
you are really pushing the limits with 285s on stock rims. I drove them that way for 5+ years and never had aproblem, but the ride was pretty bouncy for me. I bought new rims 16x9 and the 285s ride so much nicer. Anyway, the National Tire and Rim Association book says a 285 tire needs at least a 7.5" rim for safety reasons. But like i said, you guys might not have any issues. I do know with stock rims i was getting as many miles as i felt i should have on 285s

interesting that you mentioned this, I noticed that is is much more skittish and bouncy than I would like the ride to be
my wife even noticed it after i changed out rims, she hated riding in my truck before because it was so rough. She doesnt mind riding in it now, but still prefers her car
