I'm looking to replace my factory speakers and cd player with one brand for all, 4 door speakers are 6 x 8. Which brand (pioneer, kenwood, alpine, etc) is the best complete system? Also, I'm currently deployed and going home in a couple of months, which website has a good reputation and best deals? All opinions are welcomed.
Crutchfield is known for their customer service, but prices can be a bit high. Some of the high end brands do not warranty online sales, they are protecting their installers and themselves.
For brands, a price range might help. The headunit will really limit your choices, not all speaker companies do radios as well. Also will you be building your own sub box or will you need to buy one, will it be custom fitted or just a square that might be ported for to reinforce in your vehicle? I would think MB Quart and Clarion would be at the top of my list. If Rockford Fosgate still makes radios, I've had good experiences with them. I would stay clear of JVC and sony though.
I also wouldn't put co-axials back in the front positions. Powered components sound better to me.
i have a panasonic head unit in my truck with kicker speakers replacing all of the stock ones. got all of my stuff from crutchfield online. it all came in 3 or 4 days. all of the products come with everything need to install with no problems. if you have problems they have great tech service
I was looking at crutchfield online, specifically at Pioneer, and I have looked at Clarion also. I was looking at spending $250-$350 for the head units and speakers. I'm not planning on adding subs at the present time, just looking for basic set-up for everyday.
I have all Alpine components in my 02 F-350 supercab
I have a 9855 HU and 5x7 speaker components and 5x7 coaxials in the doors
I am very happy with the speakers, but am looking to upgrade my CD HU to a DVD system, either a W205 or 505
In my opinion i would go with kenwood. they have teh best bang for your buck. More features than most brands and the Excelon series is a really nice HU and speakers. I have used there equipment in the past with excellent results. I also just installed there double din HU DDx812. I love it!
