Are they headers or OEM exhaust manifolds? The factory specs can be found in most service manuals. For headers, it would be best to check with the manufacturer of the headers for exact torque settings.
I have summit shorty's and I recomend as tight as you can get them. Also use lock washers and retighten after getting them hot. I used the split lock washers and after time (eight months) the heat makes them lose thier tinssil. Now I put star lock washers on and hope to have better luck. They use stars on Lycomming aircraft engines and they get a lot hoter than ours. But of course I couldnt find good quality stars, so I might be doing it agian. Alot of guys on here dont like the Summit brand, but I had Edelbrock before and see no differnce in quility. My only problem has been the bolts getting lose and that happend to both sets of headers. I cant blame Summit for bolts getting lose. If they get lose one time and it gets a leak, you must change the gasket. It wont seal by tighting the bolt after the fact.
I just want to check the torque on them and make sure there not getting loose. I found a thread on the FSB site, that said 20 ft/lbs so ill guess ill try that.
