fuel in oil, oil sample

My oil test came back saying everything was OK except the oil had fuel in it. This, of course, lowered the weight of the oil. I've read here many reasons for this but I have new Baby Beans and a electric pump. I at first ran the psi on the electric pump at 80. After the first oil test showing some fuel in the oil I lowered it to 70 psi. Didn't help, any suggestions? Glenn

Could be injector o-rings. Did you do any UOA's before the injectors?

To answer your question, Yes. I've had five UOA's sinse I bought the truck at 83K. The test at 89K and 105K were normal, fuel % VOL <1.0. The last test before the injectors at 121K showed a 1.5% fuel. At 132K after injectors showed a 1.2%. What's confusing to me also is the last test at 141K (a few days ago) showed <1.0 for fuel but at the top it says, in the summary, 'fuel dilution has been vertified by retest'. The <1.0 must have been on the first test (on test #5) and on their retest (why they did that I don't know, maybe I should call them) they said there was fuel dilution. I use Oil Scan, its easy to pick up at John Deere and is only $11. Maybe I'll switch to Blackstone, or what ever is their name is, that you guys use for a more accurate tests. Glenn

Blackstone labs will give you a very accurate report on whats going on inside the engine as well as how well the present oil that you are using is doing its job.

I'm sorry that I don't have their Phone number handy but just Google Blackstone Labs and I'm sure it will just jump up. Give them a call or E-mail them and they will send you a specimen bottle (for oil, He he) and a mailer tube to return for analysis.

PM me your address I will send you a Blackstone sample kit. They sent me 12 of them this last go round. It will take me years to use them!

Since you no longer have the fuel pump in the valley the only place fuel and oil can mix is at the injector. Either an o-ring or internal in the injector.

Do you draw your sample on a hot motor?
It should only be drawn after the motor has been running at temp.
Samples from cold motor will vary.

Yes, Its from a hot motor. The next time I sample it, it will be from a sample port I installed by the filter. It came with the FS2500 bypass filter I use but I never installed it. I've been thinking that maybe my samples have been contaminated but the next one will be a good clean sample. I just changed the oil, I'll go a few thousand miles and check it again. When I installed the baby beans, I tired to be real careful and had oil on the O rings. I hope I didn't 'nick' one of the O rings and that's the source of my fuel in the oil?? Glenn

Rog, I've gone to work and been handed a specimen bottle, they wanted to see what was in my 'oil'! Glenn
