Holy cow, guys. I asked how to install it, not for everyone's opinions about garbage cans or anvils. So far, I have not received a single reply that answers my question.
I know that this chip is not high end, but it only cost $50, and it is definitely not a permanent add on.
All I want to know is if someone has specific install instructions.
It has to be burnt to your trucks calibration code or it won't work right or possibly do damage. Don't just put it in. It's got to be reburnt.
This is the closest thing to answering my original question.
My bro just bought a used superchips for 50 bucks. It is supposed to be programmed for 85 horses in an automatic. Bro's truck is a manual, so he cant use it untill he pays someone to reprogram it, so he gave it to me for the weekend to play with.
my best answer is.. go to super chip web site..search for the chip using the model # or find a phone# and call them and I'm sure you will find what you are looking for.... we try to steer people in the right directions..dont mean to sound like we are raging on you

Pull the PCM and plug it in......install done. Yes you got varied opinions about that chip, only because we're trying to warn you from using it! It's a bad mod for the truck, regardless of price. I would highly reccomend AGAINST installing it. Chock your $50 bucks up to experience......many of us have spent alot more then that before we discovered DP Tuner, or Tony Wildman. There's my .02 cents

.
Actually you did ,you were pointed to the DP site for install instructions
I would assume they would be the same except for the controller

Actually I didn't. I am here because this is a discontinued model that is not supported on their site any more. That is why I asked here in the first place. Giving them a call seems to be my best recourse now.
Thanks though.
OK. I got it figured out. I went to Cangim's gallery and saw a pic of his gold chip installed. The plastic ECM-holder thinger on my truck was covering the port on the back of the ECM. I removed my ECM, cut out a square the size of the gold chip, and reinsalled the whole thing. I took the truck for a 3 mile test run. The shifts felt firmer, but I couldn't "feel" any more power. I am only planning on having this in for a week or two, until my brother asks for it back to be reprogrammed for his truck.
This is my ECM before:
And this is what it looks like now (This is just a pic I nicked from Cangim's album):

Yea bout $1500 more here.....
The install instructions were the 2 links on the first page....
I found that my '02, F250, 7.3 had this chip in it when I bought it used with 18.5K miles on it.
I now have almost 300K miles and normally get 19 to 21 mpg on the interstates. I do not know if all Gold chips are set for 80 hp or not.
But when I removed mine to see how it ran stock, it was like a dog, so I quickly put it back in.
I have had no problems with mine.
I also do not know how to tell which trucks yours will match up to.
As you found out, it is quite simple to install. I would only suggest adding some tape across the back to prevent vibration from jarring it loose.
I dont think I'll need the tape, because the little mounting plate that the ECM bolts to has a little "barb" right there that engages the chip, keeping it pressed firmly into the port. The barg is the leftovers from the mounting boss on the cover that I cut off.
Did you clean the coating off the board before you plugged the chip in? Make sure you disconect the bats and turn the ignition on once before plugging or unplugging your chip. If not you can toast your computer$$$$. If there are no noticable performance gains its not burnt to your computer code!!! Pull it out before something bad happens. It may not but it could. Not worth hurting your power stoke $$$$ No one was raggin on you just trying to warn you about the issues with these chip. No one cares that it was cheap, most of us love cheap mods just not ones that cause alot of problems. The first time chip had a issue in the middle of the back country Moose hunting. I loaded my quad on the trailer and jumped in the camper to make a sandwich for the ride home as my friends left camp. I get in the truck turn the key and there is no wait to start light. I try firing it up anyways but no luck. After going over everything I could think of I pulled the chip and it flashed right up. Got home cleaned all the contacts and it woeked great for a while. Then one day turning left at an intersection the truck dies just as I'm crossing the oncoming lanes. Thank god people where paying attention as i coasted across and roled off to the side of the road.Tried to start it but no luck. Pulled the chip and she started right up. I cleaned the the heck out of everything and it worked for a fair while but sure enough the ugly contact issue surfaced again. I pulled it out and gave it to someone on this board that was thinking about chipping his truck to play with but don't know how he made out. I hope he put it on an anvil and beat it with a hammer :] All I know is after reading alot about them lots of people have had the same issues. Hope you guys have better luck with yours.
No, I think the fellas are tell you wrong I think they're referring to the OBD port...your superchip will piggy back off of your ECM there should be a cutout on the ECM docking box and on your 02 the ECM is located on the firewall down below the drivers side wiper motor it's a bulkhead connection of sorts and under the hood the wiring harness plugs into it, same for the inside of the truck but disconnect your battery first and put the positive and negative battery terminals together for about 5 mins that will drain any residual amps/volts completely from the electrical system, install the chip then
