ok 99sbm I will take a few pictures of the headers and manifolds side by side so you can see how close they are in size, granted the stockers of the 5.0 aren't much of a gain over the manifold its still a gain.I'll take a couple of pictures of the dynomax ones on my truck too for you to see,I've been meaning to take some picture of the old truck and get them up here anyways.and if the shorties are something you think will work your welcome to them.you just pay for the shipping and there yours.not sure where you live and that it may cost more to ship them then there worth but anyhow.good looking truck too.
i took some pictures of mine as well, im trying to upload them. I live just south of chattanooga, TN and i can find shorty's for a fox for about $40 so your right it might cost more to have them shipped. lol but thanks for the offer, i appreciate it. and looking at my truck, there is no way the steering box would interfere with the headers. the starter might, but i doubt that as well. and my factory manifolds end right where the bell housing meets the block.
thanks. it was orginally a torquise color i believe. as for the paint, it was poorly done, has lots of runs and overspray and its cracking and chipping real bad, but it looks good from 10ft. i traded my 78 CJ5 straight up for the truck, it had a mild 360 and 6" of lift, some typical rust and old faded paint.
well with the long tubes my starter is close but not close enough that it got hot all summer and wouldn't start.I wanted my exhaust to be totally straight so I took my tranny crossmember out and cut a notch out of each side and then made pieces and welded them back in to keep the strength.and I had to make my shifter linkage it was hitting on the collector flang.other then that they went on nice.I figured the shipping would be a killer, anyhow I'll have some pictures on here by monday at the lastest for you man hope they help.
well 99sbm I have no idea how to post pictures,I did a search and came up empty handed so if you want to let me know how you got your pictures up here I will put mine up too.there not the worlds best pictures but they should help you out.

I uploaded the pix to my photobucket account, and then copy and pasted the link.
Welcome! As far as the titlework goes, don't sweat it too much. As long as the VIN on the title and the VIN stamped on the frame rail are the same, you're good to go. I think my insurance company said my truck's VIN tells them F100, but it decodes to F150, so their info is inaccurate. Your VIN (F14) is F150 4X4, so it was not converted from 2wd, however, as has been said, the 302 is the converted part. The trouble with headers for these is a combination of steering box location differences between 2wd and 4X4 and the front driveshaft/tcase situation. I have yet to find a set of longtubes that don't interfere with one or both of these problems. I have not tried a set of shorties, however, and may look at that alternative sometime. The other thing of interest to me about your truck is the 3-spd/4X4 combo. I guess I was not aware of this arrangement. Has the shifter been moved to the floor to compensate for the body lift, or does it have custom-built shift rods?
is low considered a gear? mine isnt column shift and it has L, 1, 2, 3 on the shifter.
I never used photobucket before either,I am slightly computer stupide,if you want to pm me with you email I will gladly send them your way.like I said there not great pics but they should help.and your transmission is a 4 speed.the L is really 1st gear, and then up from there.a three speed is what it says 3 forward and one reverse, usually on the column in these trucks.
Hey guys, thanks for the great info & pics - very helpful. I don't usually get on here on the weekends. Yes, 4-spd... L is what some folks fondly refer to as "granny" low. Not typically needed for everyday driving, but with the t-case in low range and tranny in granny, you can get out of the truck and load hay bales while the truck moves along on its own! lol! Anyways, I guess I wasn't so much concerned about the actual steering box as I was the steering shaft, but it looks like that's not too much of an issue either. What about the clutch release assy? Mine has one, and I do not want to change to an automatic. No concern about the passenger side - should be similar 2wd to 4wd.

thanks. i wasnt sure if it was a 3 or a 4. in my old CJ5 it had a D18 or T18 something like thar and everyone always refered to it as a 3spd, granny low. and as far as my truck goes you pretty much have top take off in low or it just bogs down (stupid 38's, lol) and 4th gear is pretty much useless under 55mph
