Replacement speakers for doors?

My driver's side rear door speaker in particular has become rattly. I'll pull the door panel off to see what's doing but sounds to me like the driver has cracked or torn.

Anyone recommend a replacment speaker? While I'm at it I guess I'll just replace them all and would like to spend $100 or not a lot more to do it. I do want a plug and play replacement. Not interested in horsing around with this a lot.

Ideas? Thanks.

Six of them? Maybe I'll just replace the two in the rear doors.

If its your front door speakers spend a lil more and put a quality speaker in there. Those are the ones that count the most for you. I could recommend a flea market in the area that I have gotten all my audio equip from for years for unbelievable prices but its in a somewhat questionable area, not all that bad unless your paranoid honestly. Buyers flea market on cicero and division. Search the web I think they have a website. They regularly KILL internet pricing for me. Theres 3 car audio booths there and they have all been there for at least 5+ years, same people. I recommend the booth not run by the asian woman or guy. You'll take home speakers taht normally cost 2-250 for around 100 all day new in box.

Replacement speakers

Crutchfield is one of the best places to buy new. You can put in your vehicle and they will tell you what will fit, although they don't always list everything. Those speakers are 6"x8" / 5"x7". I bought Polk Audio db 571's for the rear doors and rear panels. They work good. I was also looking at Infinity 6822's before but at the time I bought, there was a good deal on the Polk's. Every once in a while Crutchfield will have a deal to buy one pair, get another pair 50% off or similar. That's why I went with the Polk deal. It was about $90 per pair, which is middle of the road. You can get cheaper but you can also get a lot more expensive. Polk and Infinity have good reviews. Crutchfield will also ship for free, above a certain dollar amount and includes the speaker wiring hiring to match up with the factory harness. They also include step by step instructions to removing the panels and installing the speakers. I was very happy with Crutchfield service. I had to exchange a home theater speaker once...no hassles and had the new speaker in a couple days. I highly recommend Crutchfield.

Crutchfield does have great customer service, but their prices are usually very high compared to other online retailers.

I have had very good luck dealing with Sonic Electonix. They aren't factory authorized sellers for some of their stuff, but they give you a 1 year in house warranty to cover them. With electronics if it doesn't blow right away it usually won't unless you mess something up.

I put Eclipse SE8375s in my Super Duty and I am really happy with them. They have new models out now so I would recommend these

Crutchfield is an excellent place to do research... unfortunately, their prices usually leave to be desired. I usually check stuff out on crutchfield and end up purchasing from sonicelectronix. Sonic is close to ebay prices and still offers a warranty and is certified dealer for most of their brands...

To answer the original question:

are you gonna run them off the factory deck? aftermarket deck? aftermarket deck w/ aftermarket amp?

if you're gonna run them off the factory deck, look for something with high sensitivity; that way you'll get the most sound out of the little power that's available. If you're running off an aftermarket deck, look for the same thing, but a component set will go a much longer way towards clarity. If you're running em off an amp, sensitivity should take a back seat, as the amp will/should push whatever that speaker can handle without a problem, and a bit less response would be a good tradeoff at higher volume.

The ones I've had experience with:

Infinity components (6800CS), nice, but no bass, no midbass, no nada. Very good tweeters, but basically, when taking the subwoofer out to go to the track, the stereo sounded like a loud cell phone

jl audio low end coax speakers, very good all around speaker, not so great when ran off deck, esp factory deck; very good when pushed by an A6450 JL audio 6ch amp...

Clarion low end coax's (currently in mustang), sound better than the infinity's w/o a subwoofer, but not nearly able to handle the power of the jl amp - I have them running off a panasonic 4x31W (rms) deck, and towards the top they're getting distorted, whereas the JL audios handled it just fine.

Boston acoustics coax's (forget model, older) have 2 pairs along w/ the JLs in the X now... sound great when pushed by the amp, but cannot handle power as much as the JLs.

If you're going off the factory deck, I'd look at the clarions (from what I've used) or bostons. Bostons will be a bit higher price, but well worth it.

Hope this helps

I have Alpine Type R components in my camaro and they freaking SCREAM! Clear as day as well. They sell for around low-mid 200's in most stores, but I got em for about half that at the place I mentioned. I feel any component set should really have at least a cheap amp pushing them though. Even with a quality aftermarket head unit they lack power when you wanna turn em up in my opinion.
