Why front motor mount won't work?
I got old front mount off--and now the 56 front mount won't install.
Need to know if front pulley is the problem or is it the 56 mount that is wrong?..

....Thanks..........Bill
These parts are the same 1961/64, different than previous years. Why? Because the 1961/64 engine crossmember is a different configuration.
Dunno if the harmonic balancer plays any part or not, but 1956 F Series trucks use a one year only balancer (also fits 1955/56 cars [not Birds] with 272/292's).
This balancer has been reproduced.
btw: 1961/64: While I've never searched for just the bracket, I do know that the upper/lower rubber mounts are available from several sources.
These front rubber mounts may be the same as the rears, it depends upon the application.
I'll search and type all the numbers, list who has them, if you wish.
I have a few choices---Put yhis 1964 yblock 292 into the truck--and seems to be a weirdo of installation.....or put a 272 and 4 speed from the ''caterpillar'' 56 into this frame. Another choice is to install a 1991 302 and auto--or use my fmx trans that was in this frame with a 351 when I got it-but no engine!!!
I am told ALL yblocks fit into ALL 1956 ford F100 frames!!! NOT AT ALL!!! I am ticked!!
What should I do-----and my back problems are real bad now--so I only want to move just what I need to do--haha!! Bill
I have never seen the mounting bracket that bolts to the engine for a 64 but I am thinking that if the Y block is supposed to fit anything a Y block came in then it stands to reason that your problem may be in the actual bolt on mounts and not the actual engine. The 58 292 I have is sitting on a pallet so I can get a good look at the mount bracket. Maybe it is different than the one that is on your motor and maybe it is like the one you need to mount that engine in your frame. 58 and 56 are a lot closer than 56 and 64… I will not be using the 292 which was pulled out of the parts truck I bought in favor of the original 223 I6 that came in the truck I am restoring.
Do ya have a picture of the mount you have?

Thanks---I have the 64 front mount --but had to cut it in 1/2 to get it off.
I have a 56 mount(front) and this looks noway able to fit behind the pulley.
I wish I had not cut off the 64 mount now!! It would not work anyway.
I will try to get a pic to show--still learning that trick!!haha
Thanks...Bill

Also going to meet Dave Boley this week, and he is buying my 53.
Hope to have engine and cab on 56 no.2 this week also--or next.
Barn is full and I am going to work on the 53 a little and put her in primer before winter.
The front mount is real wierd considering the engines are all the same. STRANGE!!
