hey guys, i didnt even know we had a section dedicated to these motors here, lol. any way, anyone here have any built 6's? if you do post some pics and tell a little about them. if anyone here is interested and hasnt seen it yet, we have a 77 f-100 with a turbocharged 300, ill post some pics if you guys want. right now the head is off of it, it lifted at 18psi, my dad hasnt got around to putting it back together (its his truck).
Cheque out my "Gallery" to see my Built 312 I6, mated to a C-4 that was done several years ago.
I'm not going to go into it again as I've bored just about everyone to death here posting about my engine build.
New here, but I have one I did about 4 years ago in a '73 bronco. It is a turbocharged 200 and pretty dang quick if you ask me at 12psi. It runs on pump gas and uses a 50/50 injected mix of methanol and water thru a holley 350cfm carb. The carb is a directly mounted to the intake, I cut open the original single hole to fit the 2 barrel.
If you really want to wake up a 200 or 250 with minimal $$, this was the trick with a direct mount 2V to the intake. Here is what the head looked like once done.
Tried the methanol/water injection once on a 1984 chevy cavelier. Along with a ported and polished head and a straight 2.5in pipe to the muffler and the throttlebody and injectors out of a 2.8l v6 (came equipped with TBI). Burned the motor up. Think it could have been a combination of the 70/30 mix I was using and the air/fuel/methanol mix. Could have been age too.
About the only thing I learned from that disaster was that the 70's and 80's were a really bad time for American automotive manufacturing. The motor was rated for 85hp new but after taking a look at the internals and the dismal performance figures for the thing I can't help but wonder what crack pipe they were smoking from.
As far as mine. Well not even mildly tuned. Single 3" short ram from box to throttle body. Adapter was the tricky part. 2.5 in exhaust from the cat back. MSD coil. Performance module. Still slow as hell but I can actually hit the freeway at the speed limit now.
There is a sign in the movie Mad Max that comes to mind with this motor. Speed is a question of money. How fast do you want to go?
