i got a 95 powerstroke and its lossing oil its not burning it i dont think and it not liking it what is the problem its got 210,000 miles and it run very stong but no smoke at all
I really don't have any idea what could cause your oil to be sucked into your fuel tank, especially at the rate of 5 quarts in 15 minutes. I'm kinda new to this stuff. Never touched a diesel until about a month ago.
sorry im not on much but my truck is not burning the oil but it eats oil like its nothing the other day i needed fuel out of the truck and i pumped some out and it was nothing but oil but the truck run like a raped ape but i was told it had to do with the injectors im not sure the truck has a little problem starting like it wount idle for a couple seconds but it runs great though
The oil is going into the fuel. You need injector o-rings. They keep the oil and fuel separated at the injector but they are no longer providing a good seal. O-rings can be bought on ebay for a good price.
As Tim said Injector o-rings. I believe there are 3 per injector. They keep the oil and fuel separate.
What is happening is fuel is coming from the motor thru the heads and the injectors are using what they need and mixing with the oil and what is not used is returning to the tank.
You may want to look at your oil quality as well. Sometimes the oil pressure can get higher than the oil and then fuel will get in the oil. In your case your oil pressure is higher than your fuel pressure so it is going to the tank instead.
Get injector o-rings, Change your oil, Check your Fuel Pressure and shim if it is less than 55-60psi. I said that because it sounds like your FP may be a bit low because it is running better with the extra oil pressure and it is lower than the oil pressure.
Then run it a bit and you may want to invest in atleast one fuel filter.
What is happening is fuel is coming from the motor thru the heads and the injectors are using what they need and mixing with the oil and what is not used is returning to the tank.
Man, the more I learn about diesels, the more I wonder why gassers are even still in existence. Diesels: If ya wanna make more power, give more fuel and make sure they can breathe. Now you say that if you give them more than they can use they just send it back to the tank? Do I understand this correctly?
thank u so much guys but i have one other problem when i start it i have to hold the pedeal in a little because it won't idle for a couple seconds but is than it will idle is that because of the oil problem im not sure i dont know much about the powerstroke i know more about the 6.9 7.3 idi's

Reason: word in wrong spot
I'm a visual kind of guy. Pictures always seem to help out more when diagnosing problems. Here's a picture of an injector and the o-rings they are talking about.
For your idle problem I'd say the oil is a good canidate. You should not depress the the throttle pedal for starting. I'm sure if you did a filter change you wouldn't have this problem. I would imagine the oil is introducing impurities to the fuel system and filter.
