Exclamation Help Can't Open Hood

I just drained the oil on my 2004 F250 and I can't get my hood to open to change the filter and refill

When I pull the lever inside the truck it feels as if it engages fine but the hood does not open. I dont have a helper here to pull the lever while I push on the hood and I need to be some place in 1.5 hours!!

The spring in the latch has probably failed or got stuck. Once you pull the cable, the latch is released. now you need to gently pry the hood upward.

Got it thanks - I did not have a helper so I had to wedge something between the lever and the kick panel to keep the lever pulled while I pulled on the hood

any siggestions on how to fix the spring?

Yes, soak it down with WD40 or your favorite pressurized penetrating oil. Once you get it clean (it may require some brushing) then coat it with a light application of white lithium grease.
