Those are some nice features. Could you post some model #'s, and your recomdations for us. With all this talk about alarm's I'm really thinking about getting one myself.
The python 872 is one that I really like. Two way remote without the lcd screen and if you know a secret code you can play the game "simon" on it.
There's another unit that wasn't supposed to release until mid November but I was informed today that they will be shipping out sooner. I don't remember the model number but it's a two way remote with color lcd screen. Really fancy but more than I want. I'm not sure of all it's specifics just yet.
I've had the 880, installed tons of 881's, installed 990's but I'm still super impressed with the 872. So far I've only installed one of those. I guess one of the reasons I like it so much is because they have integrated more stuff onto the brain box and it removed a lot of wiring so it looks better and installs in less time.

EDIT: Yep, the 872 was the one I was thinking it was. I would love to have it on my truck, but I just ended up saying **** it and just replaced my 871 remote instead
Yep, you got it. There are a few variances in the python/viper models but it's usually something simple such as remote set up or an extra channel added. For the most part there isn't any difference.
Thanks I'll look into the 872. Do you recommend it be professionally installed or can someone like myself do it?
It really depends on your skill level. Not that many people can properly install an alarm and you would be surprised how many "professional" installers can't do it either. I've seen some major hack jobs.
If you do decide to do it yourself, I can provide you with wiring references and you can also find them at the12volt dot com but not as reliable as my source.
Thanks When I get ready I'll let you know. I have seen some of the "professional" jobs and I ahve to agree with you 100%. Circuit city has them on sale for $399.99 installed. I have had a few problems with their professional installations in the past though.

That's not a bad price. Actual cost on those units is $200+shipping. I sell them installed for 499.99 and it's an all day job. Depending on what year your truck is, you might need a PATS over ride module and that will run between $50-$120.

I'll have to get back to you on that one. Seems I can't remember the store log in to check on it. I know you have to have one for that year but I don't know which one without looking it up.
Great thanks! Ive been looking online..i have probably came across it but they word stuff so only smart people can understand it!...a lot of options and choices out there...
Kenny I FINALLY found my original box and manual.....took quite a bit of digging lol. Mine is the Python 871XP.....and I do remember the guy saying I could upgrade to the 872 remote with the LCD display, but I didn't do it at the time. My remote gives you confirmation with a beep, and several LED lights on it, I felt that was good enough. If your alarm is setoff, it will page you and start beeping like crazy. I've done the mad dash out of restaurants a time or two, never had a single break in though (knocks on wood) In my city, I probably don't even need the alarm, but the remote starter is friggin SWEET in the winter

It's actually showing you don't need one. Is the black part of your key relatively flat or is it wider and thicker?
It is flat and almost square. I have another question if you don't mind. A friend of mine has a 99 PSD. He had an alarm installed (I don't know what type) well some how it it messed up his door locks over time. The installer said that it's common. I don't see why this should be. Does he need to replace the actuators or will the "tin foil mod" fix them? Does he need another part on his alarm?

Flat and square = good to go. No module needed.
Mechanics tend to always blame what they do not know. I've heard all kinds of stories as to how an alarm damaged something. It's just an easy thing to blame.
Ford actuators go out anyway. I replaced mine with aftermarket ones made by DEI, same company that makes the python alarms.
