Ok, the same truck i took my SD seats and intercooler from has a good working complete fuel system on it that has me thinking that i need a SD fuel system b/c it won't leak near as easily as ours do!! LoL
Can a SD fuel system be done on our truck? If so do i have to make modifications inside my fuel tank or anything? thanks guys
you can but it requires the hpop reservoir to mount the filter and the system is not very desirable due to the dead headed fuel rails as a posed to our regulated return. You could use the pump and get stand alone filters and a regulator along with all the fittings and lines you would need.

I wasn't aware the OBS had regulated return stock... learn something new every day!

The OBS trucks supply fuel to the rear of the fuel rails then if flows thru the rails and returns thru the front and then from there it goes to the regulator
On the SD's it is deadheaded into the front of the rails after it goes thru the regulator.
so if i took the pump then what filters and stuff would i use. i'm just tired of my fuel system leaking all the time. even lines i have replaced are leaking again! LoL. plus electric fuel system sounds tempting too. i will check out that write up also. thanks guys
wow, i just read that article and i am now unsure of whether or not i wanna do that. i am good with a wrech, but not great with soldering and stuff. looks like i need to talk to cody about this one and see if he thinks we can get that done on my truck. i'm sure with cody's talents and and tidy work area we could get it done. LoL. i just don't have a place to do it that i wouldn't lose a lot of things in the process of working on it.
i think i'm going to go ahead and take the pump off of that truck b/c mine is kinda laggy in lower rpm's and will even cut out for a second every now and then so i think my fuel pressure may be dropping down big time when i lay on the fuel a little.
I have converted my 96 Powerstroke over to an electric fuel pump system.
This allowed me to remove and discard the factory fuel filter and pump that cluttered up the valley of the engine.
I used an electric fuel pump intended for a 99 up Superduty Powerstroke.
I added 2 filters, one 15 micron before the pump and one 5 micron after the pump.
I mounted the Areomotive regulator in the valley on a home made bracket.
The tanks were not sumped at this time. I utilized the existing factory feed lines from aft of the tank selector switch to the valley, from there the lines were converted to JIC 37 deg flare. I used braided SS lines and some custom made fittings.
I will do an expanded article with more pictures in the future.
