What is the easiest way to intall the rear window and such? I bought new seals a while back and im just getting around to install them. The kit did not come with any kind of intruction but I heard that you can run a string around the window pulll it in that way. Does anybody have any ideas?
I did not personally do mine, but I watched it being done. When the glass shop guy came out to the house to do the windshield, I had him pop the new window and seal in the rear at the same time. Only took him 5 extra minutes and I just slipped him a $20 bill on the side. I had everything ready for him. He started by getting the top of the glass/frame and top corners in correctly first and then used the rope to draw the bottom corners and bottom the rest of the way in. I just stood in the bed and kept pressure on it for him - he was inside the cab - popped right in. He also used a little soapy solution (dishsoap) on the seal to lube it. That's about all I can tell you - best $20 I've spent on this truck so far. But I do think I could easily tackle it myself next time with an extra person.
I've done it with a piece of line from the weed eater. Put the window in the seal and then the assembly into the opening. Set the bottom of the assembly in with the ends of the line overlaping at the top middle. It really takes 2 people, one to hold everything in place and one to work the seal into position. Do the back window first, good learning experience. Soapy water make a pretty good lubricant and will wash off when finished.
