NEW MEMBER Introduction Thread (NO TECH QUESTIONS)
Just brought home my brand new 2016 F250 XLT CCSB 6.2L today. Upgraded from a 2009 F150 CC XLT with max. tow pkg. because we bought a bigger TT and when I weighed my setup on a CAT scale a couple months ago, we were 600# over GVWR and 200# over RAWR and we sometimes tow heavier. So, I figured we should move up to the F250 both for our current TT and any potentially bigger one, or a 5er, that may eventually come along.
This new F250 has pretty much all the add-ons and accesories that I put on the F150 but I'll miss the retrofitted HID projectors. I had the dealer spray the bed with Line-X and add a Ford-branded Truxedo Truxport tonneau. I also put in WeatherTech floor liners. My first mod will likely be to replace the front speakers for a set of Pioneer 2-way speakers.

New guy from Albany NY area
Hey everyone...I'm just signing up today even though I have used the site extensively via Google. My trucks: Two F 150 longbeds, two wheel drive. One is a rusty parts truck (with a good tranny and questionable engine) and the other is my old pilot car ride. It has over 250K on it and is still going strong other than the tranny going out (due to my bro driving it with low fluid!) and constant oil leakage. It is a Texas truck so it is as solid as a rock. I hate the seat in it but other than that it's the perfect runabout pickup for me now that I'm no longer escorting oversize loads. Here in NY most of that age are getting scrapped daily, so I need to hustle and get a good seat while I still can.
I'm also involved in a 1953-5 F-100 Effie project for a friend. He's making a "survivor ride" from various parts and pieces he has collected over the years with several false starts on an Effie that ended up being sold to fund this project. I may end up with enough left over parts to build my own really ratty truck if I'm lucky.
I almost forgot...I'm also responsible for my brother's 1929 AA Flatbed single wheel farm truck...It needs doors if anyone has any ideas. He uses it for a photography backdrop for wedding pictures at his wedding 'barn".
Anyhow, that's all for now, I need to get back to my day job listing stuff on eBay for a hobby store.

DJ Bill,
WELCOME ABOARD.
ImVho, STOP looking for a decent truck in NY or anyplace else in the "Rust Belt" & look on craigslist in TX or the other Southwestern States for a "deal".
(There are LOTS of nice trucks down here at good prices.)
I was once stationed in several places "up there" with the Army & never found a rust-free truck at a decent price.
yours, satx

First diesel
I just bought my first Diesel, (Ford of course) F-250 XL 6.7. I'm an experienced car and aircraft mechanic, but have to admit looking under the hood is a bit intimidating. I've got much to learn and many questions. I traded a 2007 F-150 with a 4.6l. I recently retired and bought a Travel Trailer, its not large or heavy but because of wind resistance my 2007 was generally in 2nd at 70mph. That and 7mpg pushed me to take the plunge.
Anyway hi to all, and thanks in advance for any trade secrets provided to me. for life.

Happy to be here
Hi All,
Joined up mostly for tech info. I probably won't be a big time poster but I won't be silent either. Hopefully I'll have useful things to share.
I've got a 2002 F-250 7.3 4x4 with 200K+. Got a few small issues that I need some insight on and hope I'll find answers here.
What got me here were TSB full texts. I found that the ones I need just link to ads. I'm about to head back there to see if being a member cleans that up for me. If not, would someone shed some light on that for me?
Also, If someone would share with me the best way to search in this world so I'm not repeating long answered questions, I'm sure that would make everyone happy.
Thanks!

So. Cal new guy... New to a Gasser and my 16 F250 xlt 4x4 crew cab 6.2. I'm looking forward to a long relationship with Gasser. I've had several diesels the past 20 years to include a 98' 24v cummins, 02' 7.3, 04' 6.0, 06' 6.6 lbz, 11' 6.6 lml, and a 13' 6.7 cummins. I don't pull heavy anymore so I thought I would save 15k and maintenance costs to try a Gasser. My pocketbook is pleased with the decision but my right foot has some needed training.

Actually I have a place in central Texas and that also would have been my advice to anyone looking for a truck...and the current truck project started in Georgia, and the cab came from Oklahoma or Missouri, I can't remember anymore. Only a few pencil eraser hole sized spots of rot to fix in the hood lip, and fender attachment area near the door where it is double thickness welded together... That two layer stuff rots anywhere if given a chance.
BTW for anyone considering a "Southern Truck"...just because something is a Texas truck doesn't mean it is any better than a NY or VT truck....When I was helping him find a truck I got to see a lot of stuff I think looked like it had been imported from the rust belt... (Houston trucks I don't usually even bother to check out beyond looking a the pictures., and he got a 65 that I had to rebuild the door post and front rocker area on. That was a "New Mexico" truck.
As far as the pile of parts I hope to build into a pretty beat up looking 53-55 ride...it will have a TX frame, the Georgia truck's old cobbled together with flat steel rockers cab, probably a handmade bed with Ford fenders from Kansas....You get the idea! These are all parts that would take a lot of work to get perfect but to get them "good enough" won't be too bad, I hope....
I just have to figure out what to use for the drivetrain as my bud is using the good 6 cylinder stuff for his truck. I'll be keeping the suspension stock or lowered a little on both trucks. I don't want anything scary powerfull, just something that will keep up with modern day traffic.
Now his 52, that's a whole different story.. It came with a horrible stretched original Mustang II setup in front and a shaky four link to an Explorer rear, and it is just a rolling shell, no drivetrain. That'll be next, once I bring it up from TX for him. I think I convinced him to leave it there for the time being so we can get a lot more done on the newer truck. The 55 will be his fifth project truck from down south and this one I want to finish for a change instead of seeing it go down the road on someone else's trailer when he saw "the truck" he really wanted.
We already have the frame back on suspension after blast and paint...and once it is a running, driving chassis my real work starts on the tin.
I could tell ya more about it but I don't want to clog up the intro thread and I think I can start a "My Project" thread somewhere here.
Thanks for the welcome!
Canadian Fords and parts
Hello everyone! I have a couple of 1978 Ford trucks. One is a F-250 Ranger Camper Special 2x4 and the other a F-350 Ranger Lariat Camper Special 2x4.Both are awesome finds but both also need a few things. I love to work on them and am reaching out to the forum for any info on where to source good used and new replacement parts. My first project will be to take the F250 off the road to do the rust work etc this winter. I will need the rear wheel wells and outer cab corners. Where is the best place to find good quality replacement metal?
