NEW MEMBER Introduction Thread (NO TECH QUESTIONS)
Hi Hank, l was just wondering how the 7.3 gas compares to the 6.0 in terms of torque, etc. I'm a "dyed in the wool" diesel guy, too, but l'm curious about the new 7.3.
It looks like you picked a good time to make the switch.
I noticed that gas is almost $1.50 less than diesel at the local station, so we've probably reached the point where gas trucks are cheaper to run, plus quieter, cheaper to fix, etc.

I loved the torque of the 6.0 but if we ever came into a campground late in the evening, I figured it was irritating the neighbors with the noise. The 7.3 makes almost no noise under the hood but with the travel trailer behind it you can hear the exhaust pretty well when accelerating
I've actually visited this forum many times over the past two years, just never made a Profile. I have a '79 2wd F100 Ranger XLT C6 tranny that my grandpa passed down to me 2021. Stock 351w, although I'm not sure if it's factory. She does great, especially since I replaced the old 2150 with a new 2150. Stock truck pretty much, all the way down to the wheels and hubcaps. Love her to death honestly, never plan on selling, just upgrading eventually.

Greetings from Finland
I bought this `01 F250 with 7.3 and auto few months ago. Its kind of partly hobby and leisure vehicle wich will tow my bikes (3 KTMs) and its needed when I`m making contruction works at summer cabin.
These are cheap to own but pricey to drive here so its a good choice for a car wich gets only little annual kms. I was thinking many options but somehow ended into this solution.. another one would have been crew cab Toyota 6 seater but theyre taxed here sky high.
Truck was originally imported back in `09 but only registered last year. Fender flares have been assembled here and all except roof has been professionally painted at same time when the wheel wells were opened. It has only 175kmiles and interior is decent and everything works. Tires are 315/75r16 wich is pretty close to "35s.
However I`m making some maintenance and renewing things like suspension. And of course PHP Hydra is in order. I`m looking to have long time reliable truck.
My daily drive is BMW full ev i3 so they make nice contrast at front of the house

New member new to trucks
Hello, I"m new to this forum and all things trucks and restoration. If you'd told me my truck's femur was broken, I'd say fix it. I literally know/knew very little about trucks let alone restoration. Yet despite that I've always wanted to restore a vehicle. So I purchased a 1966 Ford F100 Styleside. So when my day job ends, I put the suits and shoes away and get to work on the truck with my daughters (who know even less). As soon as I learn how to post something new on this site, I'll ask a ton of questions about just about everything. I look forward to assistance and thoughts from all of you!
Hey y'all. New to the forum. New to Fords, in fact. My father-in-law of 20 years and especially my step-father are BIG into Fords and while I have never necessarily been opposed to them, just wasn't a super fan really. Started looking for a used truck for work-related activities. I am a manufacturing IT Infrastructure director for my day job, but was born in the country, grew up on a farm, and DIY anything and everything and will continue to do so for however long God gives me time to do so. We have a small homestead but currently on the lookout for even more land for a more self-sustaining homestead.
Long story short, I landed on a 2012 SuperDuty F-250 XL Crew Cab 172" Long Bed. 6.2L. Mechanically, it seems excellent. Literally no rust (I am wondering if it even IS a Ford!). Only bc it has never been anywhere except Texas and Florida for a year. Needs a little bit of cosmetic work., but the price I paid was such a good value I couldn't pass it up. 120k miles.
While I can't say that I am a new Ford super fan, I will say the little time I have owned this truck, I really love it. It's massive and probably excessive, but so am I so it matches. For gasps and head scratches, to put it into perspective, I drive a 2011 Mini Copper S as my DD to work. It serves the purpose, nearly 40 mpg, and drives like a go-kart. It's still fun on a daily basis. So I have one of the smallest cars and one of the biggest trucks. Go figure.
Looks like a cool community here. Nice you meet you all.

GALSBAR
THANKS FOR TAKING ME IN. My Husband and I have aquired a 1954 and a 1955 f100 truck. i am so glad your all here to help me.
We have just finished one toy. a 1969 firebird, and its time to move on.
in the 54 there is much work that needs to be done, in , out and under. the 55 is good and sturdy, but the guy used rhino liner in and out. its gringing time. yikes.
Again thank you so much and glad to join y'all.
My number one question, is in the 54 they put in a police interceptor motor, but the shift linkage cable is a mile long, and with it comes sloppy shifting.
Could you recommend a cable replacement length. The engine runs fantastic.

The 1999 5.4 is a 2 valve (2V) per cylinder and the 2007 is a 3 valve (3V) per cylinder. Knowing that, not sure if it wil work without swapping PCMs.....
