E4OD Transmission Cooling lines replacement

My 98 Expedition has rust everywhere underneath. I just replaced all the steel brake lines after having one line rupture. Now I am also concerned about my transmission lines which show quite a bit of flaking rust between the engine oil pan and the radiator. I have the heavy duty cooling package and the auxiliary transmission cooler withe 5.4 and E4OD. I'm wondering if I have to replace the entire set of lines or if I can cut and splice pieces. Does anyone know how much pressure there is in the cooling lines and how difficult is it to disconnect the lines from the transmission, radiator and the auxiliary transmission cooler? Are these lines 3/8" or a metric line? After I am done with this I am thinking of coating the entire undercarriage with Marvel Mystery oil.

I can't tell you what the amount of pressure is, but I can tell you that with some patience and careful maneuvering, you can change the tranny lines easily. They are 3/8". The fact that you can cut the lines to add an external tranny filter with hoses and clamps leads me to believe you can splice them with short hose runs to do what you indicated. You can get a filter, hoses, and clamps for $30 here: External Transmission Filter Kit. The hoses are good for up to 400PSI I believe. Just make sure you have a pan to catch the fluid once you loosen/remove the connections.

I installed the filter kit when I replaced my tranny. Doesn't hurt to have it, that's for sure.

The cooler lines see a maximum of about 60 PSI. Usually they run about 30 PSI.

Mark, Thanks for the info.
I made sure that I could loosen all the fittings before I ordered the four new lines from the Ford dealer, otherwise I was planning to make my own modified sections of cooling lines.
