Oxygen Sensor Wire Connector

Hello Everybody,

Have a 93 F250 4x4 with the 351. I was changing the fuel filter yesterday and took a look at the oxygen sensor location since I may change it out soon.

Does anybody have any suggestions on how to disconnect the connector for the oxygen sensor? The dang wire bundle connector is located on top of the tranny in the transfer case area. I can get one hand up there and feel it but don't think I can disconnect the connector.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Dan

It shouldn't be on top of the transission. The O2 sensor should be in the exhaust pipe running down the passenger side of the truck under the floor board by the radius arm. Its to the passenger side R of the transmssion. Its inline with the back of the front right tire. The connector should be close to the starter but just a little bit in front of it. It probably has one flat tab that a small screwdriver can be used to depress to get it unpluged.

Re: Oxygen Sensor Wire Connector

Followed the wire from the sensor on up to the connector and it's sitting up toward the top of the tranny. It's hard mounted up there too.

Perhaps the routing is different on the 4x4's vs. 2 wheel drive models?

Mine is there to, up on the tranny and yea you can release it with one hand. Feel for the little release lever. Best way would be to buy the new one first and then you'll know what you're "feeling" for by looking at the connector on the new one.

Make sure they give you the sensor with the longer lead on it, comes two ways. Short lead, say 10-12 inches long, and one with a lead 16-20 inches long on it. You will need the longer one.

Thanks DanR1.

With a little daylight it was pretty easy to figure it out. Found it easiest to lay on the ground and use both hands to come up from each side of the tranny to disconnect the wire. New sensor is now installed.
