edge evolution programmer with BD tune

Actually he posted them here https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/7...-up-today.html
I saw that thread, but not this one. I sent a PM to Scott asking him to merge the two so we wouldn't get confused.
Thanks Scott. Looks like we were all confused on this one.
Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
1. Airbox was described to me as "killer" by a local diesel shop because it had a tendency to "dust the motor" -didn't seal or flow well, and had poorly designed cover latches. Was told that even Ford had a campaign to replace all the early boxes
2.As for smoke color...I'm getting very dark black smoke when I really mash the throttle
3. The chirp sounded alot like a belt squeal (but very quick -like less than a full second) and I checked my belt...no problem and even put on new idler and tensioner- and it still did it. Then it went away about a week later and thats when I noticed a drop in power
4. Turbo has been checked...I pulled it off and examined the impeller shaft and wheel for damage and any bearing failure...None Found
5. NO...I don't have gauges yet...Yes I know I should have them and am going to try to get a good deal on some while I am at the SEMA show next week.
6. I did have a shop put my truck on their scantool and even they were doing some headscratching and thought that it might be an issue with the programmer. They cleared the codes and took a reading KOEO and said the map sensor reading was off the chart with out even starting the truck.
A good dose of black smoke when you mash the throttle is normal with a tuned truck. It should clear up quickly though. If it doesn't, it means the motor is starved for air.
What kind of OBA did you use? Electronic or the air pressure regulator type (like the ITP OBA that I have)?
I really screwed up the new post....put it where I shouldn't have ...

But I'm starting to think you simply heard turbo surge. That can happen on a stock truck towing, so the fact that you heard it towing with your chip makes it that much more likely. I doubt that's related to your power loss however. We really need to know what your boost/EGT numbers are so we can narrow this down. It could simply be a bad MAP sensor, too. They go bad from time to time and would explain the power loss. The PCM uses that for fuel mapping so it could be cutting back based on assumed values, thus your power loss. We need some more info to get to the root cause.
That would cause loss of power & boost, and excessive back pressure. It's common for those to stick, too. You probably got some cold weather down there and the truck tried to close the EBPV and it stuck for some reason...
