Hi, i have a 2005 6.0 Auto 4x4 and going up hills in tow mode or normal mode 2wd (with a race car trailer) just as its about to change down, it makes a chuff chuff type noise, feeling like its loosing power for millisecond. I also noticed the boost gauge flickered as this was happening, any ideas?
Thanks C
Moved fron SD they said you guys would know :-)
This sounds like what was happening to me while towing in North Carolina. I unplugged the EGR valve and the problem went away. After I got back home, I cleaned the EGR valve and plugged it back in and haven't had the problem again. But I haven't been back towing in the mountains yet. BTW, the codes that I read were EGR and low boost related.
If its warranty work I just ask what all they did...look at it and say thanks for doing a great job.... here's my $100. + tax..... see ya next time something it doesnt seem right.
IMO, Ford has the best warranty going, and i love to drive my truck... with warranty..
I'm glad their parts department works for you and others on this forum. I contacted their Parts Dept a few weeks ago about the T fitting vent on my stock 29 gallon fuel tank that was leaking, I forget the Woman's name who said she was a Manager over there, but she said they don't show a 29 gallon fuel tank on a 2004 F250 SD CC Short box. No big deal.
Hmm. I've never talked to a female. Next time ask for Brian Walsh or Alan Hughes. Both guys are extremely helpful and will go out of their way to find the answer.
The emissions warranty is seperate from the 5 year 100,000 mile engine warranty (which has a $100 deductable). The emissions warranty is also 5 years 100,000 miles, but has no deductable. The parts covered are as follows.
List of Parts Covered for 5 Years or 100,000 Miles (whichever
occurs first) by Emissions Warranties for Diesel Engines
• Air Flow Sensor
• Air Induction System
• Catalytic Converter
• Cold Start Enrichment System
• Electronic Engine Control Sensors
and Switches
• Electronic Engine Control Unit
(ECU)
• Emissions Label
• Exhaust Gas Recirculation
(EGR) System
• Exhaust Manifold
• Fuel Injection System
• Fuel Injector Supply Manifold
• Intake Manifold
• Intercooler Assembly - Engine
Charger
• Malfunction Indicator Lamp
(MIL)/On-Board Diagnostic
(OBD) System
• PCV System and Oil Filler Cap
• Supercharger Assembly
• Throttle Body Assembly (MFI)
• Turbocharger Assembly
Important Information About List of Parts
Also covered by the two emissions warranties are all emissions-related
bulbs, hoses, clamps, brackets, tubes, gaskets, seals, belts, connectors,
non diesel fuel lines, and wiring harnesses that are used with components
on the list of parts, above.
Anyone getting charged the $100 deductable for repairing these parts is getting ripped off.
Where did you get that Beer? According to the 5th edition of the warranty manual it says:
EMISSIONS PERFORMANCE WARRANTY COVERAGE
If your vehicle is registered in a state where the state or local government has
an EPA-approved inspection and maintenance program, you may also be eligible
for Emissions Performance Warranty Coverage for 2 years or 24,000 miles
(whichever occurs first), if you meet the conditions listed below in this section.
Under the Emissions Performance Warranty for passenger cars and light duty
trucks, Ford Motor Company also provides coverage, including labor and diagnosis,
for 8 years or 80,000 miles (whichever occurs first) for the following
emissions parts, if you meet the conditions listed below in this section.
• catalytic converter
• electronic emissions control unit (PCM)
• onboard emissions diagnostic device
• NVG module (Bi-fuel/CNG)
Under Emissions Performance Warranty Coverage, Ford Motor Company will
repair, replace, or adjust - with no charge for labor, diagnosis, or parts - any
emissions control device or system, if you meet all these conditions:
• You have maintained and operated your vehicle according to the instructions
on proper care in the Owner Guide, the Scheduled Maintenance
Guide, and this booklet.
• Your vehicle fails to conform, during the warranty coverage period of
2 years or 24,000 miles (whichever occurs first), to the applicable national
EPA standards.
• You are subject to a penalty or sanction under local, state, or federal
law because your vehicle has failed to conform to the emissions standards.
(A penalty or sanction can include being denied the right to
use your vehicle.)
• Your vehicle has not been tampered with, misused, or abused.
The Emissions Performance Warranty will not apply to your vehicle if:
• the vehicle is tested at high altitude, but is certified to meet standards
only at sea level.
• the diagnosis shows your vehicle will pass the applicable state or local
government test using test procedures and standards set by the EPA.
It contradicts itself later on in the manual, but I think they could say that they don't warranty it if your state doesn't require emissions testing.
Page 16 also has a little chart showing diesel engines as covered 5/100,000.
The 5th printing doesn't really say anything about the deductable though. I'm fairly certain the one that came with my truck does say that there is no deductable on emissions stuff. I'm also pretty sure I remember some of the techs on here stating that the turbo should be covered for free (BowtieHatr maybe?).

Riggz, thanks for the names. I added them to my Contacts list! The woman was the one who responded to my email. I will actually contact them again when I need parts, heck they are pretty much on my way home from work. Thank you again.

Np. Alan's been handling my requests lately.
Beer. I'm not seeing those things you said on the page numbers. You have the pdf or print version? I'm going to try and give Ford a call later on today and see what they say. If you're right they owe me a few hundred dollars.
