looking for a winter grille cover for my truck, any ideas??? i've found "FIA" brand everywhere but i don't like that kind. something else please, thanks!
I use one from Cabelas, uses snaps that are either stuck on or screwed into the grille, comes with a winter blanket and a bug screen. Item #IJ-512605 on the cabelas website.
I bot mine from a local mod shop. Not sure of brand name. Came with both cover and screen. $69.55 installed. Uses self stick tabs around the grille. No drilling.
More than what you say. I see from your posts you have been around for quite some time. I am not sure what it is with the 6.4, but on the 2008's in northern states, the grille cover comes standard. There have been quite a few posts and threads about the air intake freezing up. I also think that is why Ford redisigned and made bigger the air dams on the 6.4. My job 2 air dam, is twice as big as the job 1 air dam.
My thoughts were better fuel mileage and redirect snow from entering. I will never know as I feel certain FORD will NEVER disclose. MUM is that word!

I've not done much reading on the new 6.4 as I don't make nearly enough to consider owning one so I was unaware of the intake icing issue... I've never heard that brought up in the 7.3L forums either (but I'm a fairly new diesel owner). What you are saying about fuel mileage relates to my comment about diesels liking heat- the closer a diesel can stay to its optimum operating temp, the better the fuel burns and the engine is more efficient. Compression ignition is all about the heat generated, and in really cold weather all that cold air coming into and around the motor takes away efficiency. I just gave "Cliff notes" answer in my previous post.

Interesting, if you look at the detail on that link I provided it states...
"Keep winter snow out of your air cleaner & get your vehicle to warm up quick with this winter grill cover is made by Ford Motor Co."
